Rebecca!

Summary:

What went down before Rebecca died.

Work Text:

“Oh dear! And did you see when- oh! When he- oh dear!” Rebecca De Winter was making an utter fool of herself flailing around in her luxurious bed, fully in a laughing fit.
“That’s quite the hoot Mrs. De Winter,” Ms. Danvers said through a deadpanned expression that had a hint of amusement mixed into it as she poured Mrs. De Winter a glass of red wine.
“Oh, Danny! Oh my, you should’ve seen the look on his face! He was utterly horrified I tell you! And oh-“ Rebecca De Winter began to cackle once again, and Ms. Danvers smiled softly, stealing a glimpse of Mrs. De Winter laughing bitterly on her ethereal bed. It made Ms. Danvers look twice, and stare continuously at Rebecca this time.
As Mrs. De Winter’s laughter died away, Ms. Danvers quickly looked away.
“Oh… Danny,” Rebecca grabbed Ms. Danvers' wrists which instantly fixed her attention to her. “I must tell you something.” Rebecca said as she looked into Danny’s eyes.
“I have cancer.”
“That’s a… good bit, Mrs. De Winter.”
“It’s not.” Tears took over Ms. Danver’s eyes.
“Danny, it’ll be okay, don’t cry.”
“You can’t die! Maxim, I- I don’t know what he’ll do to me!”
“What?”
“He knows about us, he has to Becca!”
“Becca?”
“I mean, Mrs. De Winter, I’m ever so sorry.”
“No, I like it.” Rebecca let a smug smile wash over her face.
“I-” Mrs. De Winter pulled Mrs. Danvers softly down to meet her lips and sweetly kissed her. Ms. Danvers pulled away gently after a few seconds and ran her fingers through Rebecca’s messy black hair that was spread out across her silky sheets.
“I’ll make sure we win,” Mrs. De Winter told Mrs. Danver’s as she took the bottom of her hand lovingly.
And Rebecca De Winters knew Maximilian would never hurt Danny when Maxim was dragging her bloody body across a carpet with the letter “R” embroidered on it. That’s why she was smiling.
