Summary
“I got them for you Maxie.”
Max is silent for a while, Daniel can watch the way his pupils dilate, the way he weighs Daniel’s words for how likely this is to be the truth. It leaves the air so thick with tension and worry that Daniel feels his throat seize up, unable to swallow until Max fully relaxes into him.
“I, I wanted to surprise you with them tomorrow.”
He knows his face is bright red, but honestly he could care less because Max is beginning to breathe again and Daniel can finally let his body relax. He still scrunches up his face in confusion as he tries to piece together Daniel’s logic, but it's no longer in the hateful way from before.
“For me? But I, Daniel, I am not a girl of course.”
