Meadows, long grassy open meadows that seemingly stretched infinitely coated the land, the warm brilliant faux sun casting its rays down on the lower crust of the earth as jellyfish swam along the skyline. Today was a day like any other day in jellyfish fields: Sunny and bright. for many individuals.. Jellyfish fields were an anomaly of the natural world! Something that shouldn't have been possible in the first place. but for Sora it was the perfect place to call a storage area!!.... and also home I suppose.. If the area wasn't already strange enough, a single plaid carpet contrasted the endless green land with a pair of unlikely friends resting atop.
Sora hummed a tune, the faint sound of a trumpet playing in the background alongside her as she picked up another piece of bone. Placing it on the black tray she brought out just for this specific occasion... "Anddddd this looks like an ischium so it goessssssssss........ here!" Sora mumbled to no one but herself, not even the audience! Fossil construction was an activity Sora enjoyed quite a bit after all!! something she was disgustingly educated on for reasons that are unexplainable. It would be rude if the audience *insert laugh track*ed on that! Sora stared at her mostly finished arrangement, fairly happy with the result, she still couldn't believe she actually found an epidexipteryx in the dessert! Those creatures are tiny. Man she couldn't wait to hang it up in the mus- HOLD IT!
...Something's off...Sora eyes stretched out of her sockets as she took a closer look at the fossil.... her eyebrows shooting straight up. "ELIIIII!!! Have you seen a longgg claw bone? this little guy's got 3 fingers but I have two!!" Sora immediately asked, turning her head towards her friend whilst drawing a diagram of the funny looking bone in the air.
If Elisabeth could she would've raised an eyebrow. Today was supposed to be a normal day for her, until Sora dragged her out of Vorthian to have a 'friendship hangout', truth be told Elisabeth knew absolutely nothing about dinosaurs.... nor how to assemble one, it just seemed like such... useless information. This entire time she's just been bored and staring at the assembly process. "Are you sure you didn't lose it?" they deadpanned.. it already looked complete.. so a bone's missing, What's the big deal? but of course...! as always her words fell on deaf ears.. Sora started looking around the picnic mat for it. Eli could only internally roll her eyes.
"Nevermind found it!!" Sora exclaimed, pulling it out from under her before assembling the last piece, staring at her masterpiece in awe... the only thing that's left is actually displaying it in the museum!! wires and all. "what'dya think?" Sora lifted the tray and brought it to Eli, stars in her eyes and a bright cheerful grin going from ear to ear, expectantly waiting for a compliment.
Eli on the other hand could only stare.. and sigh "It's just a pile of bones, what's so special about that..?" Cold, harsh, and straight to the point, Eli had always been that way.. blunt. She didn't exactly feel the need to hide her honesty after all.
Sora hummed at her answer before sliding the tray inside her gloves, it's beyond anyone how she manages to bend the laws of reality to benefit her. "Of course it's special, silly! It's something that makes me happy!!!!!" She replied with a bright smile and an even brighter rainbow appearing above her head, a soundtrack of 'awwwwws' and 'oooooos' playing in the background
"...that's stupid." Was the only answer Elisabeth could muster out, turning her head away. Internally however she bitterly chuckled, 'happiness'... how long has it been since she felt that way?.. it.. certainly has been a while, It's unfair in a strange way, the fact that Sora could just pop out one day staying forever joyous, and free. not needing to deal with the world.. Would she be the same if she shared a story similar to Sora? She should envy her yet is it possible to feel that way anymore? Her thoughts continued down the spiral, past actions and people, friends and family, infinite universes and complicated feelings haunti-
"I don't think so!! I think my happiness is MEGA important!!!!" Sora's words cut through her thoughts like a sharp knife determination along with a large red exclamation mark present on the jellyfish's face.
for a moment Elisabeth didn't have an answer she felt taken back by the sudden outburst of energy, "..that feels like an overstatement.." Elisabeth commented quietly, leaving Sora more confused than when she started. “Cmon Eli! y'know, something you feel happy about!” Sora continued pushing for an answer, much to the dismay of the shadowy figure who could only show so much annoyance. “Sora I barely feel happy about myself, let alone some glorified rocks.” Silence hung above the two, suffocating the air around them.
the atmosphere continued to thicken, before it was shattered by Sora shuffling her way closer to Eli. gaining their attention almost immediately
"Well.. I think you'll get it someday."
"..get what?"
"Love, silly!"
"Love..?" the shadow questioned as she stared aloofly at the purple fish In front of her. her mind wrapping around the idea of that one singular word. "What does that have to do with anything?" Elisabeth questioned back, genuine confusion shot through her like a bullet.. What was Sora even saying?? Does she hear herself?
Sora laughed at the reaction, the usual physics defying antics dimming. no laugh track, no trumpets, no abnormal limbs, no projected diagrams.. just simple laughter, "Well, happiness is an extension of love! you can't have one without the other" Sora answered with a light chuckle as she nudged Elisabeth's hand, silently asking to hold it.
"what if I don't want a partner..?" Elisabeth bit back, pulling her hand away much to Sora's disappointment, her eyes narrowing into small slits.. well, if she had them.
Sora actually looked surprised at the statement, before smiling softly "who said anything about a partner? Love comes in all shapes and sizes! self love being one of them," She explained with a singular raised finger poking Elisabeth's shoulders, studying the lack of her friend's expression closely. "-it's tough to get at that's for sure but.. it's real nice to have once ya have it! don't cha think?" Sora continued, her voice coming to a clear stop. As she looked at her friend with pure kindness.
...Maybe it was how unreal the situation was, Maybe.. it was the fact Elisabeth could barely think with the fake sun in the sky or maybe.. something possessed her that made her answer the way she did
