Victoria Javadi has never really made friends. She had searched results over Google, made naive posts on Reddit, and desperate attempts on Twitter, but she never found out how to really stick a friendship.
She yearned for it almost pathetically. She’d practice the conversations in her head, counting different possibilities. She’d orchestrated outfits with small clues, hoping for someone to notice something and make a comment. It never worked. No matter how hard she tried to research friendship, she could never obtain it.
Starting her rotations, she hoped to change that. She wore a purple jacket and tied her hair up, she was ready.
Until she managed to pass out less than an hour into the shift. It was embarrassing. Even more embarrassing when Trinity Santos started calling her ‘Crash’ no matter how often Victoria voiced her frustration at the nickname.
Santos was odd, to say the least. She’d be mean, try to apologize by giving a relatable story, only to take it all back in a matter of seconds.
But, Victoria wasn’t going to obsess over the topic. It wasn’t good to linger over it (at least, that’s what the Quora post she read said).
She found herself lingering over Mateo Diaz instead. He was one of the nurses at the trauma center, and she had grown what would normally be defined as a crush on him (only to be politely shut down in less than a few hours, but she could change him).
After being added to the PTMC WhatsApp group chat by Dana, she lurked for a few days over exchanges of what was mostly Ahmad verifying bets, Princess and Perlah gossiping about the other departments, and Dana checking everyone’s coffee orders before she came in with them in the morning.
While saving everyone’s contact, she got to Mateo eventually. She wanted to message him without seeming weird, so the only option was to message everyone similar messages.

The relationship never really went beyond that. They stayed acquaintances like every other relationship Victoria had progressed. Which was no progress at all.
But something that did have a change was Victoria’s TikTok account. After a few months of being in the ED, she started posting content on her account.
Sooner rather than later, she changed her display name from Victoria Javadi to a simple ‘Dr. J.’ She went from 0 likes to a couple million in days.
She’d post makeup tutorials, review albums from different singers, even complain about Santos. It was fun. It felt like she had friends.
Over the weeks, she had been utterly obsessed and overwhelmed with Trinity Santos. Trinity Santos, who kept calling her ‘Crash’ and was only really interested in a recommendation letter from Victoria’s mom.
She’d rant online about her annoying coworker who couldn’t stop bothering her, affection most likely leaking into her voice.

I think she has a crush on you
She grew a following. She started interacting more with her fans. She didn’t feel restricted to her parents anymore. She’d known all her life she earned her place, but it feels like she’s carved her own place using social media.
With such a silly thing, she really feels alive just as much as being in the ED does. She doesn’t need a crush (although she is quite fond of Santos, she wouldn’t consider it a crush).
It was all going perfectly. No one really knew about Victoria’s account, and she liked to keep it that way.
