Summary:

Small drabble thing to go with the art I'm posting on Tumblr. Aka, Jason doesn't fit in twin size beds. (No twin size mattress for him.)

JayDami Week day 6 - only one bed + day 7 - too big (more literal)

Work Text:

“Ugh- Are you serious?!”

Damian looked up from the travel booklet he’d picked up, raised an eyebrow at the sight of his brother yelling at his phone. “What is it, Jason? We have only just arrived, there cannot be too much issue yet.”

Jason rolled his eyes. “There’s not enough rooms. The last one with a queen is a single.”

“Couldn’t you just go with a double twin?” Tim asked, pointing at Jason with the straw of his coffee cup.

Jason shook his head. ‘Too tall,” he grumbled, ‘twins ain't built for me.”

“Damn,” Dick said, whistling.

“Boys.” Barbara’s voice came through their comms. “Calm down. If there’s not enough available space, someone will have to share. Simple as.”

“Well, me and Cass are already sharing,” Steph said, boosting onto her toes to peek over Jason's shoulder. ‘Wow, this place is really packed!”

“Yeah, and if we don’t figure out a solution we’re going to lose our reservation,” Tim cut in, rolling his eyes.

Damian hummed softly, then stepped closer and set a hand on Jason's arm. ‘Book the single. It would not be a new experience.”

Jason blinked. “Wait, you’re saying-?”

Damian nodded, and smirked as he watched Jason shrug and book the room.

Dick raised an eyebrow. “Uh, Dames? What exactly are we all agreeing to here? We still don’t have a plan.”

“We do,” Damian said simply. ‘I will stay with akhi. Sharing a bed is not the worst fate.”

Jason snorted. ‘Yeah, ‘cause you share with all of your pets every night. Probably couldn’t sleep unless there’s somethin’ curled around you, huh?”

Damian batted him with the travel pamphlet.

“Wait, oh my gosh,” Steph suddenly gasped, “Jason, Jay-boo, Jay, you gotta get us pictures. I need to see the tiny demon all curled up asleep.”

Jason just laughed as the area erupted into chaos, Damian jumping at Steph while Dick tried to mediate and Tim yelled at all of them to get moving because their cab was coming.

Jason set the last of the suitcases on the rack, sighing as he stretched and heard his back crack. “Ahh, there we go.”

“You really need to practice better posture,” Damian said, sitting on the edge of the large bed.

Jason rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, kid. You try not having Lazarus water injected into your fuckin’ veins as a bay.”

Damian picked up a pillow and tossed it.

Jason let it hit, then picked it up and walked over to the bed, climbing on beside the kid. “You ready for bed?”

“Hmph.” Damian crossed his arms. “I am. Unlike a certain uncivilized beast.”

Jason laughed, pulling at his hoodie. “Alright, alright. Just gimme a sec.” he hopped up pulled his suitcase open, reaching for his pajamas. He disappeared into the bathroom, then came out a few minutes later with a doll tucked under his arm. He reached into Damian’s bag and pulled out a teddy bear that he tossed onto the bed.

‘There,” he said, climbing back up onto the mattress. “I’ll shower in the morning. Bedtime.”

Damian rolled his eyes and pulled back the blankets, grabbing the teddy bear and shifting under the covers. He didn’t say anything about the softness around Jason’s waist.

Jason crawled underneath too, putting the small Wonder Woman plush next to the bear and pulling Damian close. He reached blindly for the light and sighed as the room plunged into darkness. The warmth of his prince against him, the quiet of the room, the low hum of the air condition, all like a lullaby. He fell asleep quickly.

And if he woke up on his back, with Damian sprawled face-down on top of him? Well, they’d both just had a very good night’s sleep.
