“I jested earlier about you cowering like a maiden,” he recalled.
Dunk took a breath and held it fast as Lyonel walked his fingers up Dunk’s chest to his throat. A wild thing turned about in his mind, hackles raised and blood hot. It seemed Lyonel fanned its flames, heedless or perhaps fully aware of what he roused.
“You have ‘polished your lance’, eh?”
“I’ve… what?” Lyonel’s head met Dunk’s chest with a laugh. He had enough time to begin to feel offended before Lyonel looked up from beneath a stray tangle of hair. His eyes glinted in the candlelight; Dunk’s mouth went dry.
“Fucked, lad. You’ve fucked someone, surely?” Lyonel searched his face for an answer. Dunk wished he had the skill of lying when pressed, but no easy tale came to his lips.
“No. Seven fucking hells, you’re taking me for a fool, aren’t you?”
