Fallout OC Week Day Four: 2026

Summary:

Andrea (a Gen 3 synth) got injured and my Fallout Tactics character Dakota, (who is a cyborg and is immortal) helps heal her.

(Yes I did a thing in my fic universe where the Fallout world is a part of the DC multiverse.)

Work Text:

Chicago, 2288, September.

Andrea sat on an operating table as she watched the Midwest Brotherhood of Steel Elder, known as Dakota, examine a large gash on her left leg. It stretched from her mid-thigh down almost to her ankle.
For Andrea, it was an almost out-of-body experience seeing her synth uniform ripped open and stained with blood.

Normally, she’d be screaming and crying at the sight of blood, but with the amount of Med-X and a generous shot of super stimpack, she didn’t feel the pain, and the bleeding had stopped. The wound was just too extensive to seal completely.
That’s where Dakota came in. He had taken her in and said he had a way to fix her leg AFTER he finished cleaning it.

Finally, after applying the last of the antiseptic and antibiotics, Dakota looked up at her.
“Okay, you might feel hot and then cold flashes, plus an odd sensation. Do not be alarmed by it,” he reassured her, lifting his left hand.
The strange blue ring on his hand flickered, and a soothing blue glow emanated from the ring and his hand. Andrea watched, fascinated, as he clenched his fist and held his hand a few inches away from her wounded leg.

The sensations he warned her about occurred and then passed within a few minutes. She felt a little sad that it stopped. Dakota met her gaze again; his robotic orange left eye glowed in the dim lighting of the room. It blended perfectly with his brown skin. Andrea had to turn away before he noticed her blush. She was a ginger; he’d recognize that right away.
“Would you like to stand up?” he asked.
“Um, yes,” she responded, turning back to him but keeping her head lowered.

He held her hands and helped her to her feet. She was a bit woozy from the Med-X and super stim combo, but that was about all.
“Could you maybe help me to my room, Elder?” she asked.
“Yeah, of course,” he smiled.
