I dream of Tim Bradford

Summary:

Chenford + Lucy has dreams about Tim before they are together and avoids him + 1 time she doesn’t have to dream.

Notes:

Rated T

I thought of this the other night but just didn’t finish it lol. It’s just fluffy and silly. This also takes place before Emma’s 1st birthday, so Lucy doesn’t know how he feels about her.

Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The first time it happens, Lucy is exhausted and she’s asleep as soon as she hits the pillows. She doesn’t even think she can dream while being this tired and yet—

Tim is in front of her, his eyes shining brightly as he steps forward. Lucy doesn’t want to move. She is staring at his lips and she wonders how they would feel against her skin. She steps forward too until she has almost collided with him. He holds her up and puts his hands on her cheeks.

“Hi.” She mutters. Tim smiles at her and leans forward to kiss her. She almost collapses in relief because his lips feel just like she imagined they would.

They are soft and warm and—

Lucy shoots up, and looks around the dark room but she is the only one in here. Emma, is in her own room fast asleep.

Lucy sighs and lays back down.

What just happened?

Did she just dream about Tim?

She never thought of Tim that way until maybe a few months ago. Sure, they were getting closer and he babysat Emma whenever he could but she never thought about his lips or how they would feel on her.

Let alone dream about it.

She groans and pulls a pillow over her head.

Great. Just great.

***

Tim watches Lucy as she shuffles around at her desk. He takes a deep breath, and heads over to her. This was it. He was going to ask her to hang out this weekend. Just as friends of course but—

“Hey.” He says. Lucy looks up, and her eyes widen a little. “What are you doing this weekend?”

“I’m putting in some extra time.” Lucy says not looking at him. “So I can take Emma to Disneyland.” Tim blinks at her, and oh.

“Oh?” Tim says. “Do you want me to watch her?” Lucy shakes her head and continues shuffling around.

“No. Angela is watching her since Emma and Jack get along. We thought it would be nice for Emma to have a friend.” Lucy says.

“Oh.” Tim says and feels a growing sense of disappointment. He had no idea Lucy was trying to save up to go to Disneyland and she was putting in overtime. And he was always her first choice when it came to watching Emma. “Okay.”

“Maybe next time.” Lucy says and she finally steps away. She still doesn’t look at him as she walks away.

Well that was weird.

***

“I heard you are watching Emma this weekend.” Tim says entering the break room where Angela is. “That’s nice.” His friend turns to look at him amused.

“Are you jealous Tim?” She asks.

No.” Tim says. Angela raises her eyebrows like she doesn’t believe him. “Lucy always asks me to watch her.”

“Well since it’s going to be long days—”

“I know. I know.” Tim says waving her off. “Emma isn’t even a year old. She likes to chew on things, sleep and look up at you with those big brown eyes.”

“Good to know.” Angela says. “We are going to the museum tomorrow. Just to get them out of the house. You can come if you want Tim.”

Tim rolls his eyes to the ceiling, other than Lucy being at work and not seeing her all weekend. She usually made a point to stop by his house. And not seeing Emma he would definitely bring going to that damn museum.

He turns around to see Lucy watching them and he smiles at her. Her eyes meet his and she hurries away.

Wonderful.

***

The second time it happens is a few days after the first time. Lucy has been activity avoiding Tim and even though she knows that won’t work forever. But how is she suppose to concentrate when his soft lips are right there? She takes a deep breath and lays down and closes her eyes.

Normal dreams tonight.

Normal dreams tonight.

She really doesn’t want to avoid Tim anymore. She misses him, and so does Emma.

Tim has his lips all over her body, she’s half dressed as he moves his mouth down to between her thighs.

Exactly where she wants him.

And oh it feels so good. She hasn’t had someone pleasure her like this in such. Long time. She hasn’t never felt this good.

He starts to lick her in and out.

Oh god.

Lucy once again sits up, and this time there is a tingling sensation between her thighs. And god, she doesn’t want to pleasure herself. She would rather have someone else do it.

Tim is the first and only one to come to mind. But how is she suppose to look at him in the face and not think about—

There’s a noise on the baby monitor and then a loud cry. Lucy sighs and gets out of bed. She walks out of her room and into Emma’s. The baby is standing up, and reaches for Lucy as soon as she sees her.

“Hi baby.” Lucy mutters picking her up. “Did you have a dream too?” Emma just lays her head down on Lucy’s shoulder.

Lucy presses a kiss to the top of her head. Maybe she could go back to sleep without dreaming about Tim.

That would be nice.

***

Tim watches as Emma squeals and reaches for Angela. His friend takes the baby from Lucy, and Emma instantly curls up in her arms. Tim blinks in disbelief. One weekend with Angela, and Emma was all over her.

Emma, the baby who was attached to Lucy and him. No one else. She tolerated other people but she preferred her mama and him.

Tim walks over to where Angela is, Lucy has disappeared and Tim makes note of that.

“Why is Emma here?” He asks. Emma head lifts up and she turns to look at him. She squeals and reaches out for him. Tim happily takes her from Angela and she buries her head into his shoulder.

“Oh come on.” Angela says. Tim grins at her and bounces the baby a little. “Lucy thought she forgot to do something. She fixed it. Now she’s using the restroom.”

“Has she been acting weird?” Tim asks. “I feel like I haven’t seen or talked to her in days. And she avoids me.”

“Not with me.” Angela says. “She is working another weekend soon. Maybe she will ask you this time.”

Tim blows out a breath. He could only hope. He misses Lucy. He misses Emma.

“Hey.” Says a voice. Tim looks up and sees Lucy. “She found you.” Tim nods and rubs Emma’s back.

“She did,”  He says. “Are we okay? We haven’t talked much and—”

“We are fine!” Lucy says letting out a nervous laugh. “We both been busy.” Tim narrows his eyes at her. Emma lifts her head, and then giggles when she sees him.

“Im!” She says happily. Tim turns to look at Lucy.

“I miss you.” He says. “I miss Emma and hanging out. What’s going on?”

“Nothing Tim.” Lucy says and she’s once again avoiding his eyes. “I just—I just I need to go.” She takes Emma from him who doesn’t seem to want to let go.

“Lucy—”

“Bye Tim!” She says and then hurries off. Tim turns to look at Angela who just shrugs.

“That was weird.” She says. “But it’s probably nothing.”

Right. It was nothing.

***

“I need to talk to you about something.” Lucy says approaching Angela’s desk. “And you can’t tell Tim.”

“What?” Angela asks leaning back in her chair. “Is it why you have been avoiding Tim?”

“Yes.” Lucy says and she already regrets this but Tim figured out something was going on. “I have been having dreams about him. At first it was just kissing and then—” She stops. “And I know he doesn’t see me like that.” Angela snorts and Lucy looks at her confused. Angela schools her expression like she’s hiding something.

“You really don’t see—okay Lucy listen. They are just dreams okay? It’s a figment of your imagination. And we won’t get into why you are having them. But Tim is your.. friend. He cares about you and your daughter. You can’t avoid him forever.”

“I can’t look at him without picturing him—”

Angela holds up her hands but she looks amused. “Well you could tell him.” She says but Lucy shakes her head in horror. “Or you could let it go and just go back to normal with him.”

She’s not sure that was possible but Angela was right. Tim didn’t do anything, it’s not his fault he showed up in her dreams.

She did miss him and she knows Emma does too. She would just have to ignore the next dream and go back to normal with Tim.

***

The third time it happens is that very night and Lucy wishes it didn’t because she knows that is all she will think about. How she wants time between her legs and—

Tim is hovering over with a grin on his face. Lucy is looking up at him. She wants to pull him down for a kiss because she loves the way his mouth fits perfectly on her body.

He lowers himself down and then slides inside of her. She hasn’t had this in what feels like years and it feels so good. She thinks it’s even better since it’s Tim. Her friend. The man who loves her daughter like his own.

And the one who looks at her with something other than disgust and hate. It’s almost soft and sweet.

She groans and clutches at his shoulders, digging her nails in. And then—

She sits up in bed with sweat running down her face. She wipes it away and groans as she falls back down on the pillow.

Great just great.

***

“Lucy.” Tim says and he’s not going to let her get away this time. Lucy looks up at him, and her cheeks instantly turn red.

“Hi.” She says and she doesn’t move from her spot. “Hi.” Tim frowns at her, and then motions for her to follow him. She hesitates and then finally does.

He walks over to where they are out of the way. “What’s going on with you?” He asks. “And don’t say it’s nothing.”

“It’s just—I haven’t been sleeping.” She says. “Weird dreams. Emma. You know.” Tim narrows his eyes at her. It didn’t sound completely false, but there was something she wasn’t telling him.

“That’s it?” He asks. “That’s all it is?” Lucy nods and Tim gives her a look.

“Do you want to get breakfast this weekend? Just you, me and Emma? There’s a kid friendly place that just opened up.”

“I—” She stops and closes her eyes. “Sure Tim. That sounds great. Emma will be excited.”

Tim relaxes a little and he feels like everything is coming back together. “Good.” He says. “I can pick you up. It’s closer to your apartment.”

“Okay.” Lucy says. “I—I’m sorry I have been acting weird. I am working next weekend, do you want to watch Emma?”

“Yes.” Tim says too quickly and Lucy gives him a amused look. He doesn’t really care, he didn’t want to repeat weekend where he knew Angela was watching Emma and Lucy was being weird with him. It just didn’t sit right with him.

“Okay.” Lucy says. “Thank you. I just really want to take her to Disneyland and—” Tim nods and he gets it.

“Well you can count on me.” He says. “Always.” Lucy nods and reaches over to squeeze his arm.

“Thank you.” She says. “I appreciate it.” Tim nods and she turns around to walk off.

This was going to be good. Very good.

***

“I have a confession.” Lucy says turning over to face Tim. He has his arm above his head and a sleepy look on his face. It’s happy and relaxed. He reaches out to tuck some hair behind her ear.

“Uh oh.” He says teasingly. “What’s your confession?”

“Before we got together,” Lucy says and she bites her lip. She can’t believe she is about to confess this. But she just remembered and god the real thing was so much better than what her dreams had provided.  “I had dreams about you. Sex dreams.” Tim’s eyes widen almost comically wide.

“Excuse me?” He says but he sounds smug and delighted. “When?”

“Well—” Lucy says. “Remember when I asked Angela to watch Emma?” Tim nods and he doesn’t lose his smile.

“That’s why you were being weird?” He asks. “Oh my god.”

“Shut up!” She says slapping his chest. “The first one was just kissing.” Tim leans over to press a kiss to her cheek.

“Like that?” He asks smugly. Lucy rolls her eyes, he knew exactly what kind of kissing she was talking about.

“No.” She says and she rolls over on top of him and kisses him long, slow and deep. She pulls back and smirks when she sees the look on his face. “Like that.”

“Jesus Christ Luce.” He mutters. “What were the other dreams?”

“You ate me out.” She says casually like Tim wasn’t  just between her thighs a fifteen minutes ago. “And then you were inside of me and imagine going to work and acting like everything was fine.”

Tim stares at her looking flabbergasted. “And you didn’t think to tell me?” He asks.

“I didn’t know how you felt and that’s not just something you confess.” She says. “And it was just—I don’t know Tim. I hadn’t had that for so long. If the only way I could have it was in my dreams.”

“Okay.” Tim says and the smirk is back on his face. “I have to ask—dream sex with me or the real thing.”

Lucy rolls on top of him. Dream sex would never compare with the real thing. Sometimes she felt like she was still in a dream because it felt so good. And Tim—god he was incredible. He always made sure she was satisfied.

“What do you think?” She asks. “Do you really think dream sex could live up to—” She squeals when he pulls her down so she’s flat on her back and then goes down and pushes her legs apart.

“We will just have to see won’t we?” Tim says grinning up at her. Lucy rolls her eyes but the it turns into a groan as soon as his mouth is right where she wants it.

***

“I have a question.” Tim says and they are once again curled up around each other. They are even more entangled than before.

“Yes?” Lucy asks looking over at him. She looks sleepy, still coming off the high of having him between her legs.

“Did you ever save up enough for Disneyland?” He asks. She never mentioned it again after the two long weekends she worked but—

God no.” Lucy says. “I’m still saving up. It’s going to happen. Maybe I’ll start working weekends—”

“How about we go this weekend?” Tim asks. “You have off. I have off. Emma is not doing anything.”

Lucy stares at him. “What?” She asks. “Tim, I don’t have enough. I want it to be special for her. And—”

“And it will be. She can do that thing where she turns into a princess. And she can go on the rides and meet the characters. We can even stay there if you want.”

“No. That’s expensive Tim.” Lucy says shaking her head. “I don’t want you to spend your money—”

“Why not?” Tim asks and he had been thinking about this for awhile. He wasn’t going anywhere and if he was Lucy and Emma would be with him. He was in this for the long run. “We are together. We are raising Emma together.”

“We haven’t been together for very long.” Lucy says. “You don’t owe us anything.”

“I want to do this Lucy.” Tim says. “I’m not going anywhere and I’m getting that little girl to Disneyland one way or another.”

“Tim—” Lucy whispers. “I—” Tim leans over to kiss her, soft and sweet.

“You work so hard Lucy. You do it all for Emma. And I know it’s been hard and it’s not easy being a single mom but you aren’t alone anymore. You have me and these past few months—” He pauses.

“Have been the best months of your life?” Lucy asks her eyes filled with tears. “Mine too.”

“Yes.” Tim says. He’s not sure how he can sum up how much Lucy means to him and he’s falling for her more and more. “Just let me do this Luce. We are in this together okay?”

Lucy nods and cuddles more into him. “Okay.” She says and he relaxes a little.

“Thank you.” He says. “You know Emma is going to love this.”

“I know.” Lucy says and she looks giddy. He’s glad she’s warming up to the idea of him taking them.

“Should we surprise—” Tim starts but Lucy cuts of him off.

“Oh! Can you wear those cute little Mickey ears?” She asks. “Oh my gosh this is going to be so good.”

Tim groans a little but he’s smiling as he leans over to kiss Lucy on the cheek. He loves seeing her excited and he can’t wait to see Emma’s reaction.

Even if he has to wear the Mickey ears.
