Player woke up to his phone ringing right next to his ear.
He instantly jolted awake, and answered the video call.
"Hi." he muttered, still half asleep.
He was met by his friends (badly) singing happy birthday to him.
When they had finally finished he looked at his smart watch.
"It's just past midnight."
"We wanted to be the first to wish you a happy birthday!" Zack said, along with courses of agreement.
Ivy glanced at her phone.
"You just got a delivery." she said, smiling mischievously.
Player gave her a confused look, but got out of bed and checked outside his front door.
There was a small white box.
He picked it up and brought it inside, grateful that his parents were heavy sleepers.
With the front door locked behind him he headed back to his room.
"Open it! Open it!" Zack said practically jumping with excitement.
Player glanced warily at the small white box.
He wasn't prepared to react properly.
He figured there was no point in mentioning that he hated opening presents (because he was bad at reactions), since they didn't have his address.
Apparently he'd been wrong.
"Before I do, I want to know how you got my address."
All eyes turned to Red.
"Why are you all looking at me?" she asked, giving them her best innocent look.
Player rolled his eyes and hesitantly opened the box.
He teared up.
Player hadn't had friends in years, and wasn't expecting or used to anything like this.
There was a cupcake with 'Happy Birthday Player' written in impossibly small cursive letters across the top in white icing on a red background.
He looked back at his friends, blinking back his tears.
"Oh my goodness, this is so sweet. Thanks you guys." he said, not quite able to mask how choked up his voice was.
"Don't cry," Ivy said, already sounding a bit choked up herself. " 'cause if you do, then I'll start cry'n too; then Zach'll start crying."
"And if they both start to cry I will to." Carmen added.
That caused Player to laugh, which got some chuckles out of everyone else.
He smiled, this was going to be an amazing birthday (even though he was woken up at midnight).
