Work Text:
Player stared at his dark computer screen.
He probably should have gotten his charger and plugged it in a while ago.
He would have too, if he knew where it was.
Though the main problem was that his knees didn’t feel fully attached to his body, and hurt every time he stood on them.
Well, this problem wasn’t going to fix itself.
With a sigh, he pulled himself out of his chair, and bent his knees slightly. Maybe that would help.
Nope. It didn't help.
Still painful.
He quickly headed out to the dining room and looked at the floor around the outlet.
His cat liked playing with his charging cords in the morning, so there was no guarantee that it would be close to the outlet even if he had left it there.
He worked there sometimes, mostly because of his parent’s no food policy.
It had been longer than he wanted to admit since the last time he ate.
He shook his head in an attempt to focus.
What had he been doing out here?
He sat down trying to remember, and cursing himself for waking up too late to take his meds.
Okay, why would he have left his room?
Food?
He wasn’t mentally prepared for that.
Player glanced at his watch. 4:35pm.
Food is necessary to survival. He reminded himself.
The little voice in the back of his head reminded him that missing one meal a day wouldn’t kill him.
He ignored the little voice and decided to grab the herb and garlic cheddar block from the fridge.
Something was better than nothing.
His knees weren’t happy with him.
Right, that’s why he’d sat down.
He quickly grabbed the cheese block, a butter knife and a small plate, then headed back to the table.
He cut off a chunk of the cheese and put it in his mouth.
Usually he paces while eating, both to take his mind off of what he was doing and because stimming was good (so was exercise).
However, his knees didn’t seem thrilled with that idea today.
Water.
He hadn’t had anything to drink since his cereal’s milk this morning.
Player got up and grabbed the bottle in the fridge with cold water, and the bottle of lemon juice.
Then he headed back to his seat bottles in hand, after closing the fridge.
He was stalling. He knew.
He shoved the rest of the cheese he cut off into his mouth, chewed and swallowed.
Good enough.
Player put the stuff he’d taken out of the fridge away, then headed back to his room cold glass of lemon water in hand.
His computer wouldn’t turn on.
Right. He’d been looking for a charging cord.
Player looked under his desk, at the tangle of wires, connected to the power bar.
Phone charger, watch charger, headphone charger, other headphone charger, charger for his mom’s old iPod, charger for his mom’s old blackberry, a few other miscellaneous chargers, and there was his computer charger.
Player sighed realizing he hadn’t needed to leave his room after all.
Of course it had been there all along.
He plugged it in, and sat back down at his desk chair.
Then, of course, he realized he needed to pee.
Player sighed, again.
This was going to be a long day.
