Work Text:
Player opened his eyes, and stared at the ceiling.
He barely slept last night and his hair was sticking up in all directions; partly from tossing and turning, partly from all the oils in his hair.
He knew he was in desperate need of a shower.
Player looked at the time on his watch.
5:24.
Great. He thought sarcastically.
He still had a few more hours until the planning meeting for the caper. Plenty of time for a shower.
The thought alone exhausted him.
However the bed was feeling more like a cage every second.
If he didn’t get up soon he’d have a meltdown or panic attack right there.
Player pulled himself out of bed and headed to the living room.
He gave the couch a weary look, unsure if he’d be able to get up if he sat down.
He couldn’t just stand for the next few hours though; his joints were sure to get mad at some point.
He sat on the couch.
Player stared into nothingness for a while, his brian so exhausted that it was actually silent for once.
With the exception of the three song verses that had been playing through his head all night and keeping him awake.
It wasn’t even that he didn’t like the song, he did.
For some reason the song was stuck in his head, and wouldn’t let him be.
The song was making agitated.
If he didn’t do something he was pretty sure he’d start bashing his head against the wall soon, just to punish his brain.
His breaths were already coming closer and closer together.
He flapped his hands, but it didn’t feel right, so he stopped.
It wasn’t worth dealing with wrist pain if it didn’t even make him feel better.
He stood up, and forced himself to take deep breaths.
He was pacing. He ended up in the kitchen.
Tea bag.
Water in kettle.
Kettle on stove. Back left element.
Back left element on. 1 tick below medium.
Boil.
Grab mug.
Grab honey.
Grab spoon.
Place spoon on top of the honey jar’s lid so it doesn’t touch the part that touches the honey.
Open tea bag.
Put tea bag in mug.
Pace while it boils.
Wait till kettle starts to hiss.
Turn off element.
Grab oven mit.
Open kettle with oven mit.
Pour water into mug until an inch between top of mug and water level.
Take spoon off honey.
Open honey.
Add honey to tea.
Stir.
Sniff every so often until it smells right.
When it smells right take tea bag out and put in green bin.
Add half inch of cold water.
He sighed in relief, not entirely sure when his breathing had returned to normal.
The smell of the chamomile tea was comforting and just right.
Player wasn’t entirely sure if he actually wanted to drink the tea.
The process and the smell were most of the point for him.
It never failed to calm him down.
He breathed in the smell of chamomile tea while once he had sat down in his spot at the table.
