Why Dennis Whitaker Doesn’t Like Sharks Anymore

Summary:

I watched S2 E10 of the Pitt, saw that one 1 minute scene of Whitaker and Park and went “yeah they broke up recently.” Robby also knows and loves making fun of Whitaker bc of it. Don’t ask.

(Can be read as standalone)

Notes:

Cheetahs may be fast, but I’m faster (and yes I’m starting a new series)

Work Text:

Dennis needed to stop this.

He knew that. Well a part of him knew that. He looked over at Park who was breathing heavily still. The older man let out a deep breath before sitting up in bed. "So… that was good." Dennis said, sitting up as well.

Park looked over and shrugged. "Alright I guess. You're too noisy." At first, Dennis thought Park was just teasing him then he realised he was actually cliticising Dennis. On sex.

"You've never said that before." Dennis said, looking around Park's bedroom.

"Didn't want to hurt your feelings. You seem fucking fragile." Park replied, chuckling lightly as he got off the bed and walked towards the bathroom.

"Showering. Don't come in."

Dennis rolled his eyes. Park was an asshole. A really, really hot asshole. Garcia had bought him over one night and in a few hours, Dennis was on his knees. It had been his first relationship since… his MS3 year, which seemed absolutely ridiculous. But now, a month in, Dennis was starting to regret everything.

Only Santos and Amy knew so far. He recalled the conversation he had had with Amy a few days ago.

"If you don't like how he's speaking to you, you should tell him, Den." Amy had suggested, handing him his tea.

"I know, but I like everything else about him I just wish he didn't…" and that's when Dennis realised the sex was the only thing he liked about Park.

About 15 minutes later, Park got out of the shower. "Why are you still here?" He asked, a bit too rude than necessary.

"I just wanted to say goodbye." Dennis went for it. "And I wanted to talk to you about something."

Park raised and eyebrow, crossing his arms. "Fine, quick though I'm tired." Dennis sighed a bit.

"I don't think we should continue doing this."

Park scoffed. "You're joking."

"No I'm not, Park, I just don't think it's working out."

"What's not working out? You don't like me? Cause I'm pretty sure you were yelling my name 30 minutes ago." Park said, flaunting his arms.

"I would've been yelling anyone's name 30 minutes ago, there's nothing special that it just happened to be yours." Dennis said, getting up and collecting his clothes.

"Oh ok Mr. Fucking rude."

"No you're the rude one Park! You criticise me on sex and yet continue to do it with me. You won't talk to me during work, you refuse to do anything but sex and I'm in your phone as 'blond twink with the arms'." Dennis responded, his voice raising a few octaves.

"That's so I know who you are." Park said, as if that was an excuse.

Dennis scoffed, grabbing his phone and keys. "Shut up, Park, we're over."

Park opened the door and sighed when only Dennis was in there.

"Hello, Dr. Whitaker. Have you been yelling at the patient?"

Dennis groaned as he realised which surgeon had been assigned to the case.

"No, because that would be completely unethical, Dr. Park." Dennis replied with a slight tinge in his voice.

"God what is your problem?" Park said, perhaps a bit too loud. And Robby walked in at that exact moment.

"What's going on in here?" Robby asked, crossing his arms at Park.

"Personal stuff, Robinavitch." Park said before leaving the room, Robby watching him walk off before turning back to Whitaker with his eyebrows raised.

"What's that about?" Robby asked, a smile playing on his lips.

Dennis sighed, accepting his fate. "I was in a short term relationship with Dr. Park and it didn't end… well."

Robby's eyebrows went from teasing to surprised in about 30 seconds. "You- a-and Dr. Park? Relationship?"

Dennis nodded, tilting his head at Robby. "Why do you sound so surprised?"

"I didn't know you were-"

"Gay?"

"Into surgeons…" Robby said, furrowing his brows. "Wait are you gay?"

Whitaker groaned and walked out of the room.

"Huh." Robby said, smiling slowly.

The patient looked up at him with an annoyed expression. "Are you actually going to help me? Those two didn't do anything but fight like girls with their panties over their heads."
