   Summary

   Kaeya’s jaw tensed. Not wanting to be more of a nuisance, he stood from the barstool—and froze. His eye widened as a burst of cold air flooded the tavern. Before him Diluc was startled, his head whipping back, but he was unable to turn his entire body as his boots were frozen to the floor. Ice climbed up the leather, rendering him immobile.

   “Let me go,” Diluc demanded.

   Kaeya swallowed the lump in his throat, his heart racing as he glanced down at his vision. It rattled at his thigh, its blue light shining bright, coming to life.

   “I-I’m sorry,” Kaeya said, his cheeks warming as he tried to command his vision to settle. But no matter how hard he tried, the ice would not recede.

   “Kaeya!”
