Chapter 1: Starry skies or Your demise

Chapter Text

Sitting under the starry night sky was his favourite thing to do, with his older brother and his two friends. The sound of the grass rustling surrounded them and he loved it , but sometimes Otto could see the lights blinking in the woods.

‘Those light in the woods, what are they?’ he thought to himself.

“Gilbert , I see these really weird lights in the woods, do you think it’s the fireflies we were looking for last week.”

“..weird lights…you must be imagining things brother…maybe you’re tired.” replied his brother, looking at him with a concerned glance.

Rustling came from next to Otto, his friend , Matthew had been roused from his slumber.

“T-the fireflies we wanted to catch last week…” Matthew muttered tiredly, still rubbing sleep off of his eyes

Feliciano sat up too, yelling excitedly “Oh! Can we at least see them , after that we can go back home!!”

Gilbert sighed “Your Grandpa told us not to go into the forest and so did ours, I also have to look after you little kids since I’m awesomely older than you” , he turned to face the forest, his hair swaying in the night breeze ,“but maybe we can play hide and seek, except you Otto, because you’re so bad at it”

Otto let out a sound of protest “that’s not fair, Feli can play but he’s scared of everything”

Scoffing , Gilbert retorted “at least he’s not absolutely ass at it” silence came from the other three children

Lying back down , Matthew gazed up at the sky, with the glowing stars, like dots of white paint dancing across a black canvas

“I-i can be the seeker if you want..” Otto pleaded looking up at Gilbert.

“Fine but only if you don’t get stuck in a ditch or get lost” Gilbert teased.

Meanwhile Feliciano was still staring into the woods, trying to see if the lights in the forest were still there, as though they could have disappeared the moment Otto pointed them out, after all who knows if they heard him and decided to run away.

The lights stood out from the darkness of the woods, as if illuminating a small path. The trees’ leaves rustled as the wind picked up, a soothing sound, with the chirping of the crickets creating a melody.

The boys all stood up. Feliciano patted his clothes so that no stubborn blades of grass stuck to him, Matthew got up with a stretch, yawning, hands outreached towards the sky , and Gilbert checked the time, helping Otto up.
