Work Text:

After the war, I went back to New York

Wukong during the very moment he left the furnance had one goal in mind. Nimbus rushed and flowed through the air, splitting clouds in the process. Those around only saw a blip. A blur of orange and different hues. All accompanied by a manic flurry of laughter that rivaled that of the hihi¹.

A-after the war, I went back to New York

As soon as the cloud neared the place he longed for most, the monkey king leaped. Ruyi Jingu Bang in hand, extending all the way to the top of mountain. Swing! The monkey landed with that bright eyed grin. Ash and dust covering him too head to toe. The slight residue of dew from shattered clouds.

I finished up my studies, and I practiced law

The monkey's landing shook the mountain. However he didn't care as he raced to the orchard. It was filled with tree's of a large variety, mostly plums, mangos, and of course peaches. In fact Wukong brought a peach tree seed with him.

Perhaps he'll plant it soon.....His heart raced as he saw it. A black monkey humming, playing with the babies monkeys. Helping carve a cradle. A plaque left for the monkeu king himself. The fur of the monkey was dark as the night sky. Eyes shaped like the petals of trees, in a purple, blue, and red shade.

Loose clothes, the melody sung depicting that of the sun and moon. Alongside a show of shadows that made the little monkeys beam with curiosity and interest. Wukong didn't waste another second as he ran to embrace the monkey of his dreams. Careful not to damage the rock in front of him. It beamed with a golden light mixed with the ebony shadows of night.

I practiced law, Burr worked next door

Within a moment the monkey was chattering on and on about his adventures. Energetic as always as he spoke to his mate about all he's done in his absence. From the boredom of watching the immortality peaches, to stealing them.

All the while he cooed as he spoke to the one laying within the rocks censoring some details. He knew his mate would chew his ear off if he spoke anything inappropriate around the egg. His tail wrapped around the egg cradling it softly as he leaned against his mate's back. Simply inhaling the smell of home, as he chattered relentlessly.

Even though we started at the very same time

However in Wukong's eagerness to get home he immediately started chattering about having the Brotherhood over. Much to his mate's dismay. At the silent glare, Wukong simply pressed a chaste kiss to the glowing blue ear of the present, which caused his mate to fluster. Reddened and unable to deny, in a stupor.

At the response he had one though. "Still works." Wukong giggled to himself. His mate truly always never failed to disappoint reaction wise.

Soon after Wukong personally brought (kidnapped) his sworn brother's. Chattering around a table on Flower Fruit Mountain. Their topics going to their exploits, to many other topics. The egg Wukong and Macaque held still a mystery to them. Hidden in the heart of the mountain on its cradle. Alongside its plaque carved by Wukong himself.

Wukong told them of his latest adventures in the heavenly realm. As to which he teasingly mentioned taking over the celestial realm. His brothers took it seriously. Thus they began their plan of attack. They spent sleepless hours the six of them, planning, training, rinse and repeat.

Alexander Hamilton began to climb

The tides of war shifted drastically. General by general fell to their might. They were getting high on the adrenaline. Everytime a celestial warrior fell, Wukong would tease them relentlessly.

How to account for his rise to the top?

However war is needy. Wukong wouldn't stop for a second. He fought like there was no tomorrow. Eventually Macaque had to shift in and out of battles in order to feed their egg energy. Peng would relentlessly harp at the shadow monkey for their disappearances.

Did Macaque tolerate such slander? No way in Diyu.

Man, the man is non-stop

So he did as he did best, a faux attack to Peng actually taking out a warrior behind him. The shadows of suixin tie gan bing² swirled and shifted as the pole elongated itself.

Gentlemen of the jury, I'm curious, bear with me

Are you aware that we're making history?

However Macaque wasn't sure how long they should keep up this war. It was draining enough to feed the egg with a partner. Fighting and feeding it alone drained the monkey considerably.

Though Wukong's determination wasn't even close to faltering.

It never did when it came to the monkey king.

This is the first murder trial of our brand-new nation

Celestial upon celestial fell due to the combined might of the six. The tides of change never faltered. Especially now that their determination was beyond a mere adrenaline high.

The liberty behind deliberation (non-stop)

Macaque stopped coming to plans lately. His ears bleeding with the screams of battle. Exhausted from feeding their cub energy. How long could he keep this up?

I intend to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt with my assistant counsel

There were dark bags under Macaque's eyes. Body curled around the egg. A failing smile as he tired. Faint shadows of ebony and purple igniting around the egg.

"Almost there."

Co-counsel Hamilton, sit down

He heard the sway of a tail. "Mihou! Our baby! Aw look at that glow! Growing so well!" The other just gave a weary nod falling asleep. The brighter one just pecked his cheek.

Our client, Levi Weeks, is innocent

At the brutual barrage of attacks, Macaque became queasy at the sign of it all. The sign of children suffering made him tempted to leave. To end it all, just take care of their Xiaotian.

Call your first witness, that's all you had to say

Macaque attempted to voice these concerns. However the moment he started, he knew it was a battle lost. Especially when Wukong just patted his shoulder.

With that cheeky grin he said, "Come on Bud! We're so close!"

Okay

The hope that died dared not to reignite. He pursed his lips before sighing softly. "If you're sure."

One more thing

"Anyway are you sure you can keep feeding our baby?" Wukong was at the shadow monkey's side  in but a moment. His hands flew to hold Macaque's waist as a support. Nuzzling his cheek with deep affection.

Why do you assume you're the smartest in the room? (Hey)

Macaque let out a tired sigh at the affection returning it. The baby was a hungry little thing. Grown accustomed to it's papa's shadowy energy. Though it always craved more as it let out a soft golden glow. He could only let out a brief 'mhm'.

Why do you assume you're the smartest in the room? (Hey)

Wukong just giggled as he enjoyed the cool of his mate. Happy to finally have a moment of peace. The monkey's of flower fruit forming a large pile of monkey mayhem.

Why do you assume you're the smartest in the room? (Hey)

It was a comforting silence as they all formed a huddle pile in the nest. A troop of monkey's attempting to ease the pain in their Queen's chest. Careful as to not damage the egg ahead of them.

Soon that attitude may be your doom (aww!)

However even the monkey's had an uneasy feeling starting to form in their guts. War was never good. With the chaos a similar brought, it could only escalate. They knew their king wouldn't stop until he had to.

Why do you write like you're running out of time? (Hey)

Macaque spent day and night with the same routine. Wake up, feed the baby. Plan strategies with the brotherhood. Fight. Feed baby. Help Wukong sleep.

Write day and night like you're running out of time? (Hey)

Rinse and repeat. His patience and energy was waning. The seal on his ears to prevent their omniscience from getting out of hand aching to be let free.

Every day you fight, like you're running out of time (hey)

His mate on the other hand had been exhilarated. The ginger easily got on energy highs. He has since he hatched all those years ago. His main drive wasn't peace, like his monkey's. Said one's would get on an energy high whenever it was too silent and became more productive then ever to ensure the wild would be welcome.

Keep on fighting in the meantime (non-stop)

His beloved got a high off theater and shadow play. The feeling of puppeteering in his hands. He loved to manipulate things to his will. His mate's eyes would narrow in that way that made Wukong's heart pound. The smirk forming on those sweet lips, made Wukong swoon thinking of it.

Corruption's such an old song that we can sing

It was far from the reality of Wukong's own highs. Violence, chaos, it all got Wukong's blood simmering like a volcanoes would before eruption. The pure unadulterated chaos Wukong got energy from was insurmountable.

Along in harmony, and nowhere is it stronger than in Albany

Unfortunately Azure, Peng, and Yellowtusk was utterly oblivious. They knew Wukong when he had reason to hold back. So no one would put a target on his mountain.

This colony's economy's increasingly stalling and

Honestly, that's why public service seems to be calling me (he's just non-stop)

However since war has already started. Everyone is provoked and blood pumping. The blood has been shed. Alongside the weapons that have long been drawn. The bonds made and broke in show of allegiance.

I practiced the law, I practically perfected it

Wukong, frankly in all of his wisdom, didn't see reason to hold back. With his mate tiring more and more so, with Mountain affairs and the war.

I've seen injustice in the world, and I've corrected it

Now for a strong central democracy

He'd just have to wrap this whole issue up quickly wouldnt he?

If not, then I'll be Socrates

Wukong could practically write a novel of all his genius. From his war strategies, to puns. Eventually in his boredom during the war he'd trace Macaque's face asking philosophical questions before snapping out of it with a giggle and going to bed.

Throwing verbal rocks at these mediocrities

The Celestials were beyond pissed at Wukong's retorts in battle. Let alone the fact that the monkey dared to try and scold them on sloppy form!

Hamilton, at the Constitutional Convention

"Wukong!" Was the scream the ginger heard before a fire tipped spear flew towards him. The flames scorching the monkey's fur.

I was chosen for the Constitutional Convention

There as a New York junior delegate

Giggles ensued as his tail wrapped around the spear flinging it back. "Nezha! What a pleasant welcome!"

Now, what I'm going to say may sound indelicate (aww!)

Goes and proposes his own form of government (what?)

With a wink and a grin, as the spear flew, an army of Wukong clones climbed over it taunting Nezha. Some of them sticking tongues out. Others doing an array of gestures.

His own plan for a new form of government (what?)

"Wukong.....Are you quite sure this is the best course of action?" Azure gazed at these plans. Macaque wasn't involved at all. Not as backup, nor a secret plan.

Talks for six hours, the convention is listless

A slight flick of the tail silenced the lion. "Of course Azure! Mac is busy with mountain stuff." Azure opened his mouth to decline but silenced himself.

Bright young man

The gleam in his eyes was nothing but chaotic. This plan would be a turn of events the brotherhood wouldn't be able to stop.

Yo, who the f is this?

Thus the battle began. The battle began with the Demon Bull King striking the celestials with a vicious stampede of attacks. Blow after blow sending people back.

Why do you always say what you believe?

Stars practically formed over his eyes when his blow was blocked. His eyes caught on the celestial maiden, matching his every blow. Even with something as simple as a fan she blocked it all with the mighty wind. Her eyes sparkled in equal intrigue.

Why do you always say what you believe?

The tides of war changed once again. A celestial maiden joined the side of the Brotherhood. Via marriage, of all things. Tiěshàn Gōngzhǔ, or Princess Iron Fan was her name.

Every proclamation guarantees

Macaque gladly welcomed someone with a level head such as his. However the celestial maiden wasn't blind to the lack of vitality, or even power in the shadow primmate's body. She didn't know what, but something was feeding off the monkey like a leech.

Free ammunition for your enemies (aw!)

Whatever it was starving. Iron Fan could only tell, that if the monkey doesn't stop feeding this leech,

His glamor will fall.

Why do you write like it's going out of style? (Hey)

She merely offered to loop her arm around the monkey's as his legs began to quiver. "Would you mind showing me around?" Her voice rung through.

Write day and night like it's going out of style? (Hey)

Macaque accepted it. As soon as they left the room he sighed. "You're aren't just an oblivious little Celestial, are you?"

Every day, you fight like it's going out of style

Her eyes were full of fire. Her lips upturning into a wide smile. "Bold of you to assume I was oblivious in the first place."

Do what you do

Macaque let out a laugh. Oh when was the last time he laughed?

Alexander?

"Wukong?" He asked quietly.

Aaron Burr, sir

The monkey shifted from his place behind the black monkey, crumbling a "Yes, mate?" His nose buried in the ebony fur.

Well, it's the middle of the night

"I know you said not to doubt but," he took a deep breathe. "Should we continue this war?"

Can we confer, sir?

That woke the sleeping monkey up. "Mihou, is something wrong?" He quickly went to turn to face his mate himself.

Is this a legal matter?

His eye's were worse then ever. Practically buried under the eye bags of his complexion. Amethyst eyes now down turned about to rest anytime now. His fur was starting to get a couple matts.

Yes, and it's important to me

And it felt like his body was about to give up anytime now......practically falling into the ginger.

What do you need?

Oh. Macaque couldn't keep his eyes open. Closing them for a moment wouldn't hurt? He was just so tired. His body shut down, his tail unfurling around Wukong's his grasp around the egg lax. The egg began to sleep before Wukong's tail wrapped around it.

Burr, you're a better lawyer than me

"Mihou!" Wukong shouted, quickly catching his mate. The two were propped on a branch tonight instead of their nest. The warm night air felt nice, that night.

Okay

He sighed nuzzling his mate. "He overdid it." He sighed. His egg demanding energy just as the monkey managed to shift the two to safely. Whistling to summon nimbus, shifting the three onto it and flying back to there nest.

I know I talk too much, I'm abrasive

"Could he be right?"

You're incredible in court

Wukong shook the thought off as soon as it came. He couldn't falter now. Under no circumstances could this stop, when he was so close. To what he wanted.

You're succinct, persuasive

What his brothers wanted. What his family needed. He just needs to hold on a little longer. For their Xiaotian's sake.

My client needs a strong defense, you're the solution

For now he'd rest. Tightly curled against them. Feeding the needy egg ahead of him. What could Wukong do even? What in this world could convince Macaque to listen to reason.

Who's your client?

If only this war wasn't so taking. Wukong could quit if it wasn't so important. He had so many people that count on him. His sworn brothers, the generals, all of Flower Fruit Mountain. All of that paled in comparison to the needs of his mate and child. This war won't end, until Wukong is atop the rest with a winning grin.

The new U.S. Constitution?

During the new years, the Brotherhood gathered up. Drinking to their hearts content. Azure Lion staring at Wukong with a fond gaze. One that would rival a wife seeing her husband return from war after years. As the spoke about their future after Heaven is defeated with those star filled eyes. However his companion paid him no heed as he dashed away.

No

Fixing the sash around his mate's waist. Cheerfully as he spoke, "Bud," he cooed. "You know you're supposed to do it this way!" His hands fixed the scarf with due diligence.

Hear me out

Mihou just gave an irritated scoft. However Wukong saw the way his body relaxed. The Six-Eared Macaque nearly omnipotent had few weaknesses. One was that he couldn't tie a bow or knot to save his life.

No way!

However even with the warmth of the bow being tied, nightmares plagued the monkeys mind ruthlessly.

A series of essays, anonymously published

No matter the day he heard the same brutul sounds.

Defending the document to the public

Crush.

No one will read it

Spring water.

I disagree

Gasps.

And if it fails?

Finally the heart crushing screech of his mate. He had never heard a sound so volatile before.

Burr, that's why we need it

It made him want to throw up bile, and turn deaf. No matter how he blocked his ears, warded them, he couldn't stop hearing that sound.

The constitution's a mess

Which in all of the Six-Eared Macaque's experience meant one deadly fact. One he denied profusely, and refused to tell a single soul about.

So, it needs amendments

No matter how much he pled or attempted, if he couldnt block the sound of a future, that meant no matter how violent and crushing it was,

It's full of contradictions

It had to happen.

So is independence

He hadn't a clue if he had the heart to tell Wukong such a fact. He was desperate for change, for independence.

We have to start somewhere

He trusted Wukong, as he did the sun to rise every morning. Macaque hadn't a doubt in his mind that it'd soon be over.

No, no way

......right?

You're making a mistake

Such a thought made the monkey feel meek, small, both of which he despised.

Good night

Though he supposed perhaps he could sleep, in his mate's embrace, with the proof of their love in the midst of the two.

Hey!

Macaque felt the rumble of Wukong's soft chirps as he slept. A habit the monkey made when he was child, muttering his adventures to Macaque even when his eyes couldn't flutter open.

What are you waiting for?

Slept captured him, however the same couldn't be said for Wukong. As soon as he felt Macaque slump, he shifted keeping eye over the mountain. How could the monkey? Who knows what likes want to break in?

What do you stall for? (What?)

Pride was a common man's vice. Paranoia was the vice of Kings and God's a-like. They had everything to lose, and even greater to gain.

We won the war, what was it all for?

Do you support this constitution?

Of course

Then defend it

And what if you're backing the wrong horse?

Burr, we studied, and we fought, and we killed

For the notion of a nation, we now get to build

For once in your life, take a stand with pride

The war was near its peak, and Wukongs patience at its end. Macaque had refused to fight for months now. Even though Wukong had taken over feeding the greedy egg.

I don't understand how you stand to the side

I'll keep all my plans close to my chest (wait for it, wait for it, wait)

Everytime he dared to ask Macaque would give a distant stare with dead eyes.

I'll wait here and see which way the wind will blow

I'm taking my time, watching the afterbirth of a nation

It pissed Wukong off beyond belief. What was going through his head?

Watching the tension grow-

.........

History has its eyes on you

Azure was wounded, Peng had nearly lost his wings. Macaque was faint, and Yellowtusk was about to give out. The brotherhood was wounded, Demon Bull King barely able to keep his drive.

I am not throwin' away my shot (just you wait)

It was just Wukong, staring down the Jade Emperor.

I am not throwin' away my shot (just you wait)

A wager against Buddha. One leap from his hand and this would all be over.

I am Alexander Hamilton

He was Sun Wukong.

Hamilton, just you wait

The infamous Monkey King.

However it all meant nothing as he felt the mountains chains wrap around him burying him. The everlasting sting of the sutras of it.

I am not throwin' away my shot

The egg cracked.
