Work Text:

Shoko seriously needs a life evaluation… After she brings Yuuji home.

Shoko knows that her dumbass classmates she unfortunately gives the title of her best friends are, well, dumbasses, for fooling around the fact that they like each other for forever. Even their kohais, Nanami and Haibara know that they both like each other. And every time she basically tries to shove one of them into the other they give the lame, shitty excuse of “But what if he doesn't like me back…”, God Shoko's going to lose hair by how much she's been pulling it out of frustration.

So imagine her utter shock when they burst into her infirmary, right when she was experimenting dammit! Announcing two things; That they needed her help with something far more important… And that they were finally (Shoko was going to cry of relief) together.

Turns out, the only thing they needed to stop doubting each other was a child.

Wait hold on—

Nestled into Suguru’s chest was a very peculiar organism that had somehow won both the hearts of Suguru and Satoru. (Shoko needs to emphasize on how big of an accomplishment that is, getting into Satoru’s heart was not easy. Especially a child because Satoru loathes those things, yet somehow, he was okay with getting his uniform dirty because of the dirt on the child, holding him and putting him to sleep no less.)

They found the child after their latest mission, and picked him up, and on the way back to Jujutsu Tech “found” out that they both liked each other and were willing to keep the child. Then they proceeded to drop the biggest bombshell of all that this child, has cursed energy, and eats curses.

Shoko needs a cigarette. Probably five.

Okay, calm, breathe, relax, just don't think about strangling anyone by the names of Suguru. And Satoru.

She first ordered them to clean the child before she could do any kind of assessment. Which they did, and it seriously took a long time, Satoru told her that it was because his hair was too messy and tangled, forcing them to untangle it first then only clean his hair, which had way more dirt than the rest of his body, which Shoko could agree to. When they first broke into her infirmary the child had a dark, rather red shade of hair, after they'd finished cleaning him up, she could see how genuinely bright the hair was, and it was pink. She could already imagine the hair dye allegations, along with the queer allegations too. Because of the ungodly amount of time the strongest duo spent on his hair, it was pretty much proof that his hair color was real, it was still a very odd color to have. It might have also been that they must have been really, really careful with the child because of the wounds. He was wearing the same thing he was brought in, just it was cleaned and ironed.

She placed the child on a nearby bed and checked his body, finding bruises and rashes all over and patching them up, some of them were self caused, some of them were accidents from things like scrapping concrete, and some of them, were most definitely inflicted from an external source, all while subtly glancing over to the new couple who was not-so-subtly glaring holes into the child’s wounds. Probably wanting to commit murder to whoever the hell caused those.

Who knew that idiots like these could have such a side?

Obviously, they did, and Shoko experienced them firsthand, looking dead into the soul of a sorcerer who insulted her, no less seeing such a rage-filled side of theirs. But Shoko grew up with them firsthand, getting to know the true personalities of the strongest duo. And in her humble opinion, they are more of goofy dorks than well-trained professional sorcerers.

She sighed after inspecting the child's body, “All done”

Both of them said nothing for a second, both examining the child who was silently squirming under the attention he just realized was placed on him.

Then Suguru came by and gently cupped the boy's cheeks, it puffed up in an adorable way that made both Shoko and Satoru coo at how cute this kid was.

“Now, Yuuji-kun, are you hungry?” The child— Yuuji, nodded

Satoru got up, saying he was going to get food, presumably curses, as Suguru placed the boy in his lap,

“What's his full name?” Shoko asked, feeling stupid for not asking earlier,

Suguru gave a glance to the boy in his lap, one that asked him if he wanted to tell her himself, Yuuji caught it and nodded, he turned to Shoko, “Itadori… Yuuji” He said quietly, but Shoko could still hear a rasp to his voice, as if he hadn't spoken in a while.

“Very good, Yuuji-kun,” Suguru patted his head and Yuuji perked up at the compliment. Both of the adults mentally decided to pamper the little baby with compliments.

Satoru came back with some small curses, which made Yuuji’s eyes widen and the unmistakable look of hunger in his gaze, like a tiger selecting its prey.

Ah, his eyes.

Shoko knew better than to ask. Those eyes, only those who have suffered, those who had to bear pain they were not supposed to, only those who had been broken, those who fate played with, those fate were cruel to.

And those eyes were on the face of a child

Shoko's glad to admit it, that her dumbass, goofy, fuckass freaks of the term friends did something right for once.

Satoru picked up a small curse and handed it to Yuuji, who snatched it from the white headed man. This boy, this adorable, chubby cheeked baby, devoured the curse, ripping its flesh without a second thought like a madman stuck in a desert who'd gone miles without water.

Her expression didn't change outside, but inside she was stuck in between curiosity and outright disgust. She could feel the bile rushing, threatening to spill out of her mouth, which she got control over and pushed it back down.

Once the boy was finished eating the curse like an animal, he looked up with the most innocent eyes ever known to man, despite there being no glint in his eyes whatsoever, as if he didn't just perform one of the most disgusting actions, and look like a maniac when doing so. There was some blood dripping down from his mouth, which Satoru had somehow predicted and had a napkin with him to wipe it off.

It looked so domestic and cute, as if this was a sweet, loving family of a couple and their adopted son, and definitely not a child with two new-adults – who are idiots despite being the strongest – in the world of curses and jujutsu.

Obviously, Shoko couldn't figure out what the everyloving fuck was wrong with Yuuji, considering Six-Eyes couldn't guess either (Either that or it did but Satoru wasnt willing to share just yet). Thankfully, before Shoko lost her brains, those eyes did help for clearing something else.

That excuse of a little shit Satoru had noticed that Yuuji was aware of his emotions, mature and could control his negative emotions, which was probably why he could control his cursed energy, just it didn't explain how he had too much cursed energy. And for that… God, all three of them would need to do some research.

Yuuji looked at both Satoru and Suguru, and then, blinked a couple times, then his baby face started to form tears, and before they knew it, the poor boy was bawling, like full on sobbing, he turned around in Suguru's lap and was now burying his face in Suguru's chest and his baby fingers clutching Suguru's shirt. Suguru didn't mind at all as the tiny boy held onto him for dear life, Suguru himself was hugging Yuuji just as tight. Satoru, who was sitting next to him, began running his hand through Yuuji's hair in an attempt to ground him. Eventually, the boy passed out exhausted.

Yuuji was then sneaked into Satoru’s house, they all needed to plan first. Yuuji, probably touch-starved and paranoid, woke up a couple times, but was quickly put back to sleep. They hushed their voices so that they could discuss things without the extra ears listening in and possibly freaking out. It was genuinely scary how easy it was for Satoru and Suguru to cooperate. Not that she expected them not to, it was just so different from the two she grew up with.

God, what have they gotten themselves into?

They have to nurture a very, very traumatized kid. And they just hit the adult stage themselves! Fresh out of their own childhood!

Thankfully they graduated, God knows if they found him earlier, how they would deal with missions, exams, and Yuuji!

Shoko's not going to complain, because this baby has some magic power that made Suguru attached, next Satoru, now her. She might be exaggerating, but it's not a lie that she feels somewhat motherly towards Yuuji.

Satoru’s house was already the candidate, it was already a huge space with tons of room. They needed a babysitter though, since the Elders won't leave Satoru’s and Suguru’s ass alone, even Shoko's too. Maybe, when Yuuji’s older, they can bring him along on their missions, since Satoru and Suguru already made the decision that they're going to train them. For now though, they needed someone who they knew for the role of a babysitter, someone who they trusted…

Hmm…

“I have an idea for who!” Satoru said, “But right now we have an even more important matter to address!”

“And that is?”

“Yuuji-kun needs clothes!" Satoru announced, picking up said boy who just woke up in his arms, Yuuji blinked twice, then yawned and rubbed his eyes, as his eyes adjusted, he looked around and realized he was being carried by Satoru.

“Huh…?”

Which was the unfortunate time when Suguru’s phone rang.

“...Dammit!”

So now, Shoko had brought Yuuji to the mall to buy him some new clothes. The boy, being an orphan, was probably used to wearing the same thing over and over, and was probably self-conscious about how much space he takes up, so he declined to the offer of new clothes. Shoko explained to him why he needed new clothes, but she left out the part where she was sure that if she didn't get him clothes, Satoru and Suguru would, but it would be rather overwhelming.

She and Yuuji were walking through the mall, holding his hand, gentle, but also grounding him. She took him to a store where she showed him many things, but the boy was still restricted, so Shoko made him a deal. He'll pick two clothing items, and Shoko will choose the rest. Yuuji agreed.

Shoko decided to mainly pick hoodies, so that they would ground him if he ever felt uncomfortable. She bought some pants, jeans and a cute pink full-sleeve with a watermelon in the center for him. Satoru gave her the money so Shoko decided to buy a tee for her, and a shirt she knows Suguru would most definitely love.

Yuuji got back to her with a plain white half-sleeve and a plain black half-sleeve. Shoko could immediately guess that Yuuji saw the first two things in the store and took it without much thought into what he wants, but he doesn’t need to come out of his comfort zone just yet. Suguru and Satoru literally kidnapped around 9 hours ago, she doesn't blame him for feeling reclusive. She's glad he did take something though, and he looked up to her as if she had the power to say yes or no to whatever he wears.

That's it. They're keeping this kid.

She needs something like this in her life anyway, something that can distract her from her cigarettes.

After that they left the shop and headed down, on the way Shoko spotted an ice-cream vendor, she asked Yuuji who nodded, probably to “satisfy” Shoko and not upset her. She ordered vanilla after checking with Yuuji, when the cone reached his hands she saw him hesitating, he gave a small tentative kitten lick to the cream before his eyes widened. He then began happily eating it. Shoko guessed that because he ate curses, his appetite for normal food must have gone down.

Maybe Yuuji would see how much he's changing their lives, he's got them wrapped around his finger and folded so hard even when he doesn't realize.

Now time to get back home and entertain Yuuji until Suguru and Satoru get back…
