Work Text:

It’s late, and you can feel your eyes getting sleepy watching this awful show, one of those trashy American sitcoms. You wouldn’t usually watch things like these, but Five seems to like it. You think it’s a guilty pleasure type of thing for them.

Speaking of, Five is currently sitting next to you, their head resting on your shoulder. You can feel their warmth seep into you through your side. It's nice. You love being close to Five.

You're starting to get kind of uncomfortable, though. They’re leaning on you in a way that makes your arm hurt, and your neck is also starting to complain about its posture. Your wrist is at a weird angle from holding Five's hand as well. You should probably let them know.

“Five,” you say, nudging them so they understand. “Could you please just…”

You stop moving when they don’t react. What’s going on? You lean forward to get a better look at their face, and… Oh. They’re asleep.

Five looks peaceful like this, their expression relaxed. Their eyes are closed, and you can see the thin, purple veins making a pattern in their eyelids. You can feel their breathing on you, leaving a warm, lingering sensation. Their mouth is slightly open, yet you think they may be clenching their jaw again.

What now? They can’t sleep on the couch, and you probably wouldn’t be able to sleep like this. You get up, slipping out of their embrace and leaving them in an awkward position where their upper half is laying on the sofa and their lower half is almost sitting. Your side feels cold, having grown used to Five’s warmth. You stare at their sleeping form for a moment before coming to the conclusion that you have no choice but to carry them to bed yourself.

You slide your hands under them, one beneath their back and the other under their legs. You pull them up as gently as possible. Goodness, they’re heavy.

You start walking towards your room, slowly. Five’s head lolls with every step, but they don’t seem to be waking up. That’s a win in your book.

Eventually, you reach the bedroom, and tenderly lay Five on the bed. There it is. You tuck them in and kiss their forehead before climbing in yourself.

You lie there for a while, waiting for sleep. It’s dark, but you know you’re facing Five. It’s how you realize that, after all your efforts, and your success at carrying them to bed, they’ve woken up just now. You’d call yourself unlucky if they weren’t next to you.
