Work Text:
Tui has always loved talking.
His middle school’s teachers constantly changed his seat through the years in hopes of quieting him, but Tui would always manage to form a friendship with whoever was sitting next to him. Even in high school, despite his better-controlled nature, there was no way of getting him to shut up when he had the chance to speak.
And then he saw Lego. He was the most gorgeous person he had ever seen. He still remembered he was wearing a red tank top and sitting alone by the stage’s edge. Something came over him, an impulse to speak up and connect that he hadn’t felt since he was a little boy longing for the friendship of his peers.
So, he sought him out all throughout that concert. He tried to play every angle. He tried to talk about the choreography, which warranted brief yes or no answers with no follow-up. He brought up the afterparty, but Lego showed no reaction.
He talked about the friends he made, talked about the weather, and the latest dating rumor making its way around the trainees’ ranks, but nothing he said landed.
It took many more months, rehearsals, a challenge or two, and the group forming for him to move past Lego’s barriers. They had progressed like wildfire since then. From colleagues to friends to something more they couldn’t put into words for a while until they finally admitted they couldn’t stand to be apart.
Now, it had been two years since the day they became part of LYKN, and Tui couldn’t even pretend Lego wasn’t his favorite part of it all.
After the special live stream for the landmark had ended and the five of them had their own celebration away from the cameras at Tui’s place, their friends left one by one until there were only the two of them left.
Lego had just closed the door after Hong when Tui pulled him into his arms to hold him against his chest. Lego gasped in surprise but went easily, lacing his arms around Tui’s neck.
“You know, one of these days, Hong will make good on his threat of spraying us with water to keep us apart,” Lego joked, holding a hand out to lock the door behind them.
Tui laughed. “Lucky for us, he isn’t here anymore.”
Lego rolled his eyes but didn’t pull away when Tui kissed his forehead. “You know, you really killed it today in the live.”
“Thank you." Lego murmured, a bit distracted by Tui’s lips pressing against his cheek next. “You were not bad yourself.”
“You did say my charm is multiplying,” Tui whined, burying his nose in the crook of Lego’s neck. He nuzzled, indulging in the way Lego melted against him, throwing his head back to laugh.
“I was just following the script,” Lego said, but his voice cracked, distracted as he became when Tui pressed a kiss against the sensitive skin of his collarbone.
Tui laughed, lifting his head to take a proper look at Lego. His cheeks were flushed red, and his hair was pointing out in all sorts of directions Lego couldn’t be caught dead showing most people.
But he showed it to Tui, and that was more than enough.
“There were no scripts, and you know that.”
“You were the one saying I was gorgeous.”
“I said you were good-looking,” he corrected. “Don’t let it get to your head.”
Lego just crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at him. Tui giggled, embracing his slim frame with both arms to tug him closer.
“Fine,” he admitted, defeated. “I might have said 'good-looking,' but I was definitely thinking you were gorgeous.”
Lego laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. He still passed his arms over Tui’s shoulders, locking them behind his neck. “You’re such a simp.”
“Am not,” Tui lied shamelessly.
“Okay, mister ‘Lego has biceps’ and ‘he’s growing more muscular'.'"
Tui felt himself blush despite his best efforts. “Ugh,” he complained, hiding his face in the crook of Lego’s neck.
He wasn’t having it, though. Lego brought Tui’s face up and looked at him with a crooked smile. “It’s alright. I liked it.”
“Oh, did you, now?” He mumbled, leaning forward until his forehead landed against Lego’s. “I know a thing or two you’ll like just as much.”
Lego slapped his arm in false reprimand but quickly closed the space between them, pressing a kiss to his mouth to shut him up.
Tui had never been happier for being such a talker.
