Buck wasn't expecting this to happen, even if he let the thought roam.
A trip to New York for comic-con because Chris and Denny really wanted to go. It shouldn't have gone like this. Good things, like this, don't happen to Buck.
He's staring down a pretty guy, the one he's been emailing to prepare for this meet-up, in surprise.
"You gonna speak, LA?" asks Jamie, Reagan, as in the son of the New York City Police Commissioner.
The same one who just asked him out on a date.
"Um, I think the boys kinda answered for me," says Buck sheepishly as he notices Chris and Denny sliding into chairs at the table Jamie's nephews are sitting at. They're giving him a thumbs-up. "If it's now, then we should sit at the table next to them instead."
"It's a good thing that's where the boys put their bags," replies Jamie with a grin as he twists to the side. "Your table, Mr. LA."
"Thanks, New York," chuckles Buck as he shakes his head and walks towards the table, ducking his head when Jamie falls into step with him and brushes their hands together. "You trying to hold my hand, Jamie?"
"Maybe," he says it with such a shyness that Buck darts his eyes towards him in surprise. "Wasn't sure if you'd be comfortable with that."
"Wouldn't have agreed to a date if I wasn't," replies Buck softly as he tangles their fingers together. "Besides, you called me out about being touchy via email when I sent those pictures so you knew who to look for."
"Yeah, and you called me a little shit when I did that," snorts Jamie as he gives Buck's hand a gentle squeeze.
"Because you are," chuckles Buck as they sit down, their joined hands resting on the table. "So, the kids are smirking."
"Yeah, yeah, they are, and I've noticed a few things," murmurs Jamie as he side-eyes the kids who are whispering and giggling along with those shared smirks.
"Yeah? I have too," replies Buck quietly as their eyes meet.
"You notice that they've basically been setting us up on dates the entire time too?" asks Jamie as he arches a brow.
Amusement dances in his eyes, and Buck knows it's shining in his own too as he replies, "Yup. Knew that from the lunch we had after we checked in. Who sits in a whole other booth and then asks us how much their lunch can cost?"
"So, we've been going on dates this whole time, huh? Does this count as our first date then?" asks Jamie as his brows crinkle in curiosity.
"Officially? Probably since you actually asked for one, and that's how it works. But, I like the idea of counting the others too," replies Buck softly, a bit shy, but also happy as his lips curve into a grin.
Jamie grins back, amused, and he gives Buck's hand a squeeze.
Buck is really starting to like New York.
