Chapter 1: Perfect

Chapter Text

“Vee, you’ve done like, 50 of these shows. What makes this one so different?” Scraps asked, leaning on Vee’s desk where she stressfully shuffled through quiz cards. “It doesn’t have to be perfect. We all like going to them no matter what.”

“All of my shows are perfect. I’m not going to try any less hard for this one to be.” She answered, stacking the cards. Vee had three piles. Ones she could use, ones she maybe could, and ones she couldn’t. Scraps was helping her sort through them, picking the 10 best cards for the gameshow. Vee held monthly gameshows for the toons of Gardenview. She used to have them for the children but since everybody vanished, she now did them for the toons. It helped keep spirits high when things got low.

”Alright I guess, just don’t work yourself out yknow? What about this card?” Scraps handed Vee a card.

“A math equation? I don’t know if Shrimpo will like that.” Vee said.

”You’re right, he won’t.” Scraps laughed. “I guess if you really want the perfect show you gotta be fair to the players.”

”Exactly. And it will be perfect, just like the others.” Vee said, placing the card into the ‘no pile’.

“What about my show?” Scraps smiled cheekily. “Was that one perfect?

Vees antenna twitched, buzzing. She sighed, gathering herself and continuing to sort the cards. “Your win in that show was pure luck. It shouldn’t even have counted as a win.”

“I won fair and square!” Scraps exclaimed, her tail furring up.

“At the end of the day, you have the trophy to show for it. So yes. You did win. Now, help me pick the questions here.” Vee sat back in her chair, studying each of the cards.

“It’s Astro, Shrimpo and who?” Scraps asked, leaning over the desk reading the cards.

“Shelly.”

“Oh Shelly’s playing? It’s her first time on the show right?”

“Mhm.” Vee hummed.

More the reason the show needed to be perfect. For her.

“Cool! So, definitely do some history questions. She’ll love that. But don’t make it too hard, yknow, for Shrimpo.” Scraps laughed, picking up a card.

“Like this one! This one is perfect.”
