Summary
“You have to be more careful, Henderson,” Steve bites out as he ties off the gauze.
“I’m not trying to get hurt,” Dustin lies. Steve’s hands haven’t left Dustin’s arm, fingers wrapped hotly around his wrist and elbow.
Dustin drags his fingers from Steve’s thigh to his hip briefly before slipping up under his sweater. He runs his fingers over the gnarled knots of flesh of Steve’s scars. The ones he got fighting off the same bats that took Eddie. Dustin lets his eyes flutter closed and a breathy sigh escapes his throat. “Steve,” he sighs again.
Steve inhales sharply and before Dustin can open his eyes, Steve is pressing a burning kiss to Dustin who opens under him immediately.

In the aftermath of Vecna ripping open rifts to the Upside Down, Dustin has plenty of opportunities to get hurt, from the monsters that invade Hawkins to MPs who patrol the roads, to the bullies at school. Dustin starts seeking out the pain to distract himself from his grief and anger. Each time he gets hurt, Steve is there to offer him relief... So now, Dustin has another reason to get himself hurt, if only so Steve will touch him again.
