Gem has never really gotten Grian’s whole deal with Watchers.
Well, okay, that’s a lie. She does get it. Speak to any Player who’s garnered the attention of enough Eyes, and you’ll hear pretty much the same complaints; the weight of all those expectations, and the backlash when you let them down. The fact that Watchers on the whole tend to be pretty darn stupid certainly doesn’t help. And, of course, the more Eyes on you, the worse it could get.
Grian had more Eyes on him than nearly anyone she knew. She can definitely understand wanting to hide from them.
But considering that these days he has no problem arguing with her Watchers whenever she deigns to let them See, she figures at this point he’s gotta be over the whole thing.
“You know,” Gem says, after Grian spends a long rant patiently (impatiently) explaining why certain glitches are allowed on Hermitcraft while others are not as they do the tedious work of blasting a hole through the nether roof, “you could do this a lot easier if you let them Watch you instead.”
Considering all his past hangups, she’s half expecting him to freeze and panic over the suggestion. What she doesn’t expect is him pouting, “Yeah, but that’s hard.”
She blinks. “Is that it? That’s the only thing stopping you?”
“It’s just a lot of moving parts!” he grumbles. “You and Impulse and Scar and— well, everyone who does it regularly, you’ve all been doing it for ages, and you’ve got your little tricks that you use, and I have no idea how to do any of that. Plus, I have no idea how you keep track of what They’re all saying.”
Gem laughs. “Aww, you keep up with what mine are saying just fine; it’s just like that! The rest of the stuff is easy once you set it up. I’ll show you after we’re done here!”
Grian rolls his eyes. “Who would even want to Watch what I get up to anyway?”
Well, that’s just stupid. “Mods,” Gem says, “can we get a poll to see who would watch a Grian stream?”
As expected, the chat lights up in excitement. The vote is near-unanimously yes.
Grian goes back to placing TNT, but Gem can tell he’s thinking about it. She smiles. Yeah, she’ll make a streamer of him yet.
