Work Text:
It had been a while since Vox had verbally attacked Ethan. On a usual busy day Vox would be yelling at Ethan every five minutes, but it had been at least eleven minutes since Vox had last yelled at him. Ethan had finished what Vox had asked him to do long ago but he always waited for the next thing from Vox so it wouldn't hurt to go ask him if he needed him to run an errand for the other Vees.
with his clipboard to his chest Ethan got up from his desk and started down the hall towards Vox's office. The hallway always felt so long but it truly only took two minutes to retch the big double doors to Vox's office.
creeek
"Sir? Do you need anything from me? I could order lunch for you and Mr. Valentino and Ms. Velvette" Ethan pushed open the door other hand still tightly gripped in his other. He looked around, spotting Vox's figure behind his see-through digital computer. He heard sniffling but he chalked it up to being another sinner that Vox had just 'fired'.
"What do want Ethan?" Vox tried to sound intimidating, but his voice came out higher than usual.
"Sir, do you feel okay?" Ethan slowly walked closer to Vox's desk, when he sensed something was off.
"Yeah, now go 'way!" Vox yelled angrily, tears streaked down his face flopping down on the desk. Ethan walked over and lifted him up to check his screen because how hard he hit his head on the desk. Ethan was stunned to see Vox with tears running down his face. Tiny cracks were all around his screen.
"Sir, I need to fix your screen, I'll go get the tools" Ethan gently let go of Vox's head and laid him back down.
"Noooooo" Vox drew out his words, his voice was very high and childlike
"Well... uh I-I could... carry... youu..? uh" Ethan knew he was testing the waters a little too much, he was practically poking a giant shark. Vox perked up at the suggestion, tears stopped and nodded in his head violently. Ethan gently picked him up and carried him to the workshop
"Sir, stay still, we're almost done, I just need to put on the screen protector" Vox looked at him with big eyes before closing his eyes and leaned forward for Ethan to put the screen protector on. Vox opened his eyes; he had stars in his eyes like he had an idea.
"Can we play sharks?" Vox had been acting weird since he had entered Vox's office, crying in front of Ethan, damaging his screen, letting Ethan carry him, and acting very childish.
"Of course, sir" Ethan wouldn't and couldn't ever deny any of Vox's requests.
Vox had changed into a shark onesie and had a couple broken human dolls that he pretended to 'attack'. Ethan would be the boat, second shark, land, bottom of the sea and a shipwreck. right now, Ethan and Vox were attacking the humans on their boat (a pillow). Vox lunged at the humans, 'biting' and 'eating' them all up.
"Mhahaha, nobody can defect the Sharkie's!" Vox stood up in victory, waving the dolls all around. He dropped the dolls and looked down at Ethan "I wanna draw Sharkie's being awesome!" before Ethan could say anything (which would just be 'yes, sir!') Vox waddled over to his hiding spot and grab a box and opened it. the box was full of shark toys, coloring books, a slinger pacifier, and many more childlike things. Vox grab a notebook, coloring book, a crayon box, and put the pacifier in his mouth. Ethan didn't know how to feel seeing his big scary boss doing... whatever this is?
"You draw with me, okay?" Vox said seriously while handing a crayon to Ethan. Vox sat down the things in front of Ethan then pushed Ethans arms out of the way and sat down in his lap, grabbing Ethan's arms and wrapping them around himself. When Ethan realized what he was doing he hugged Vox back while he grabbed the notebook to start drawing.
Hours had passed. Vox was starting to get sleepy. Vox put down his coloring supplies and laid back into Ethan and closed his eyes for a 'quick' nap. Ethan took notice, grabbed Vox and started cleaning up.
When Ethan finished cleaning up and putting the box away, he laid Vox down on his bed and was about to leave when Vox grabbed on to his sleeve.
"Don't go..." Vox whispered, more like a plea than his usual demands, with big teary eyes.
"I won't sir" Ethan responded while sitting down next to Vox. Vox crawled over and sat on Ethan, hugging him while he drifted off to sleep.
