Work Text:
The best part of the day had finally come. Liam had finished his Latin history class and was finally heading back to his dorm for the night. His brain was all but mush after a full day of college classes and all he wanted to do now was go home, heat up last nights leftover Chinese food and eat it on the couch with some documentary playing softly so he could shut his brain off.
As he ran through the catalog of documentaries in his head that he had in his watch list he strolled up to an intersection. The road was busy with cars peeling out of the college lot for the students who commute. The congestion caused by the students on foot heading to the dorms made the cars practically bumper to bumper like a long winding trail of ants. Liam followed the flow as he crossed, weaving in and out of groups of people till he was spit out on the other side of the street into the small plaza before the dorms.
He kept his head down he barely needed to pay attention, the route back long since memorized. He only needed to pay attention to the shoes in front of him to make sure he didn't bump into anyone. He checked his phone receiving a few messages while he was in class, his commute the perfect time to reply to a few.
The first was Scott he had sent a picture of a white husky that had been brought into the clinic.
Scott: Say hello to my first patient of the day Grace!
Scott had finished his degree and had started working under Deaton officially as a second Vet in the building. The alpha sent frequent photos of his favorite patients to the pack group chat along with any pressing messages he needed to get out. There seemed to be no other pressing issues to discuss today so just the Patient pic came. Liam joined the bandwagon of Lydia Corey and Mason and sent a hello to Grace in response.
He checked any other messages he had and only one other remained. It was from Theo, his roommate…
Theo Reaken: Take the garbage out when you get back I did the dishes.
He was about to respond when a hand tapped against his shoulder and Liam was startled up from his phone. A microphone was promptly shoved into his face followed quickly by a camera. His senses went into overdrive and he almost immediately got a headache. He heard the man's rapid heartbeat and could smell the ham on his breath that was probably the man's lunch, he could also smell the tuna that was on his camera man's breath that was even less pleasant due to the fact the man clearly hadn't brushed well enough that morning. Smell… the biggest downside to being a werewolf, not the full moon, not the hunters, the smells. It took a moment for Liam to reel his senses back into focus.
Liam turned to face the man and his camera man “Can I help you?”
“Yeah man, would you like to do a challenge and win a TV?" The man was loud. The stereotypical influencer voice was grating even with just human hearing. Liam watched as ten other people passed by giving him looks of pity for being ambushed by the influencers.
The TV wasn't a bad one, it was a new smart tv and fairly big. It was leagues better than the one Theo thrifted for their dorm room… alright fine. Liam would bite.
“What's the catch?” Liam asked.
The man with the microphone practically jumped with joy that someone was willing to be content for his social media.
“Alright! To win the tv you need to get someone to make out with you for 10 seconds on camera and you have ten minutes to do it. If you can get someone to make out with you then you win the Smart Tv right here.” The man tapped the box exaggeratedly as his cameraman zoomed in on it before shoving the camera back onto Liam.
The challenge was stupid and didn't make sense but Liam didn't really have time to think any of that over because the man pulled out his phone and showed Liam the timer that he had just started. “STARTING NOW!”
“I uh-” Liam reeled around most of the crowd he had followed had made it into the building and only a few stragglers remained. Liam watched a lady old enough to be his grandma pass by him.
“No.”
The men watched excitedly as Liam floundered. The camera man getting all the eccentric angles of the situation. Liam watched helplessly as the last few people filtered into the building or out of the area.
“You can phone a friend. But they gotta make it here before the time runs out.” The man pointed to the timer that was now at six minutes and thirty seconds.
Liam was flustered. It wasn't like he would lose anything if the time ran out but he kinda really wanted that tv. He fumbled his phone in his hand his only probable option was already on screen.
Liam has sent his location
Liam: Help
Two minutes passed and there were no bubbles on the screen. Theo hadn't tried to respond. Liam bounced on his heels debating texting Mason or Corey. Mason was still in class and he decided against Corey after thinking about fumbling through an explanation of why he made out with his best friend's boyfriend…
“Three minutes!”
Liam thought about asking them but tuna breath wasn't an option. “What about you? Can I kiss you.” The man’s smile faded for a moment before shaking his head.
“Nah man. You gotta find someone else before the time runs out. Which is in ONE MINUTE AND THIRTY EIGHT SECONDS!”
All hope was lost. The tv was gonna slip through Liam’s fingers to some other dumbass. Liam’s face was hot. He began to break a sweat out of anxiety as he watched the clock run down. The man talking to his followers about how they might have to find someone else to win the challenge.
Suddenly what sounded like a gunshot went off.
Liam's head snapped towards the sound and could see Theo slamming the metal door open and practically off its hinges as he barreled out towards Liam.
“Thrity seconds! Is that your friend?”
“Yeah-” Liam said breathlessly as he ran towards Theo. Who slowed his approach after he saw the camera man and influencer chasing after Liam. Liam could hear Theo’s heart pounding from across the courtyard and watched the chimera size up the men following him and quickly determine they weren't actually a threat physically.
“Liam what is-” Without thinking Liam kept his momentum, jumped up and crashed Into Theo. The chimera caught him by the thighs holding him up but still surprised as he looked up into the boy’s blue eyes for any sense of reason for his actions.
“Just go with it for ten seconds.” Before Theo could register the rest of the situation Liam’s lips slammed into his. Theo watched as the camera guy began trying for a better angle and the Influencer began hooting and hollering.
Liam’s hands cradled the sides of Theo’s face as he gave him a sloppy kiss. The boy made out with Theo even briefly slipping his tongue into Theo’s mouth before quickly retreating but Theo finally caught on. Liam was putting on a show. Theo would join him. Theo quickly chased the werewolves tongue’s retreat and ventured into Liam’s mouth as he returned the kiss matching the boy’s sloppy patterns.
“Three..!”
“Two..!
“ONE!” The Influencer yelled.
The two boys didn't stop… for at least three or four extra seconds. They breathed heavily as the two went at it.
“Uh- You Won Man...” The influencer said as he awkwardly held the TV box.
Theo dropped Liam pressing a final sloppy kiss onto his lips before pulling Liam’s lip with his teeth for emphasis as the boy's shoes hit the ground.
“What did we win?” Theo asked as he watched Liam wipe his spit from his lips. Theo huffed as he recomposed his breathing. The taste of Liam’s saliva was coating his mouth, his heartrate returning back to his control.
“A new TV for the dorm.” Liam said as he gathered his breath and took the tv from the man.
“Congratulations…” The Influencer said mildly bewildered at the scene that just played out.
“Thanks!” was all that was heard as Liam turned and began to carry the TV back to the dorm Theo rushing ahead to open the door.
