Work Text:
1: Hand Holding
Wednesday ran cold. Enid ran hot. They were opposites all the time. They were not meant to mesh together. Colour against dark. Sunshine against storms. They were like fire and wood, though. They bonded well; they shouldn’t. One opposite they had was their body temperature, too. Hot and cold. Enid loved it. Since she was a wolf, she heated up fast and was always a little too hot. Wednesday was the opposite. Like a corpse that had passed away 3 hours ago. Her own personal cooling machine.
Walking beside her, Enid held the goth’s hand. Since they were publicly out as a couple, Enid and Wednesday had no shame anymore. They always held hands, and if anyone laughed… good luck to them. “You’re cold,” Enid hummed, smiling at the goth.
“And you’re infuriatingly warm,” Wednesday responded, glancing at her before looking away as they walked to the dining room.
“Your heater, my air conditioner,” Enid joked, rather proud of herself, before she reluctantly pulled her hand away and grabbed a sandwich and drink.
2: Cuddling
To no one’s surprise, they ran the same temperature when cuddling. It was good for both of them. They had started cuddling 2 weeks into their relationship, and Enid loved them. It had happened previously, but only if Enid or Wednesday had had a bad nightmare. Now, it was almost every night (unless either one was too hot or too cold), and it was a good mix. They slept on the covers even. Enid wasn’t too hot under the covers, and heated Wednesday as she needed to sleep on the covers.
Ever since they had also started to cuddle, Enid was sleeping better, and Wednesday had fewer nightmares. It was a positive for both of them. Enid was just happy to finally not be tired during the day. Hell, she had started to play sports now that she didn’t have energy for. It was great. Now, it was the next morning.
“I love waking up to you,” Enid murmured, kissing Wednesday’s cold cheek, nuzzling her neck gently.
“And I feel like I am waking up from an over every morning,” Wednesday grumbled. In reality, she loved it. Enid was hers, and she loved the heat. It gave her an excuse to admire the girl discreetly without her knowing, and if she blushed… she could blame it on the heat.
3: Hugs
Hugs were the same. Hot and cold. Ice and fire. Now, they rarely hugged, but Enid loved it whenever they did. Wednesday could always sense if she needed a hug, which was a bonus at least.
That moment was current. Enid was curled up on her bed, having missed classes, as her mother had called her. Apparently, she had found her an alpha boyfriend, and she didn’t want that. That was when she snapped, admitting that she had a girlfriend. It was Wednesday, which Esther had always disapproved of.
Walking into the room, Wednesday immediately made it feel icy. “Please don’t kill anyone… just… need a hug, please,” Enid had requested. Wednesday immediately did as told, going to the werewolf and hugged her. Enid immediately cooled down, but she held onto Wednesday like she was her lifeline. Like a fire that needed to be settled, and she had settled onto her wood. “Thank you,” she had murmured after 2 minutes, pulling away.
Wednesday would always help Enid no matter what… plus she loved the wolf’s warmth. It felt… nice.
4: Leg Holding
Wednesday and Enid were on a bus ride. It was a school trip, and Wednesday had immediately claimed a window seat at the back. With girlfriend privileges, Enid sat next to her, and they listened to music together. A mix of metal, a mix of K-pop, and a bit of acoustics.
Enid felt happy when a thought came to her head. Slowly reaching out, she held Wednesday’s leg. On instinct, Wednesday flinched before she relaxed. It felt like fire on her legs. The dangerous flame, the flame that had invaded her heart. Glancing at Enid, who had seen her reaction, she nodded to say it was ok. Thinking, she hesitantly reached towards Enid’s own leg, soon holding it. It felt like ice on the wolf’s leg. A welcome feeling, it grounded her. Looking out the window with Wednesday, she smiled and relaxed.
She loved her cold raven.
5: Kiss on the cheek
Lunch time. One of the best bits of Enid’s day. Not just because of food, but because she could sit next to Wednesday again. She wanted to try something new this time, though. Waiting patiently, she chattered with her friends when Wednesday came over with Agnes as they talked. Enid was not jealous anymore of them. Agnes was practically their daughter now.
As Wednesday sat next to Enid (still talking), the wolf immediately took the opportunity to do her plan. She leaned into the colder girl, shoulder-to-shoulder, before she started to kiss her cheek. The goth stilled for a bit, feeling the flaming feeling linger on her cheek. Glancing to the side, Enid was bright red, still touching Wednesday's shoulder-to-shoulder.
After explaining something to the redhead, Wednesday turned to Enid, kissing her cheek. It felt like ice lingered on her own cheek, and Enid blushed, smiling. She was bright red, yes, but the icy feeling helped keep her blush down.
She loved her much colder girlfriend.
+1: Kiss on lips
Enid was inwardly panicking. It was going to be her first kiss with Wednesday; it was all planned. It would be at the food truck, with their separate hot drinks, and they would have some sandwiches. They then would sit at the darkened corner of the statue of Poe, and Enid would take action.
It had worked perfectly so far. They were sitting down at the statue, talking about whatever they could. Books, cases, murders, Agnes and friends. As Wednesday talked about her novel, Enid couldn’t help herself anymore. Launching towards the goth, she kissed her lips immediately, holding her sides as she did so, her eyes closed. Wednesday stiffened at first, before she relaxed, kissing back.
Their lips melted together like ice on flames. They were meant to be. They shouldn’t have been, but they were attracted to each other. Pulling away, Wednesday’s eyes were blown wide before she started to kiss the werewolf again, who held her even closer.
Unlike fire and ice, they were good for each other.
