Chapter Text
"Kill Cheri? Father, how could you think to do such a thing?"
Gumina cried grabbing her father's arm. They were in his study, right after she'd overheard his conversation with his most loyal servant. He coldly shook her off. "That boy's making you lose track of what's important, Gumina! It's in the family's best interest that you marry Sateriasis, and if elevating our family requires one worthless boy out of the way, so be it!"
She couldn't believe her ears. Sure, her father was ambitious and a bit cold at times, but to think of killing Cherubim to get his daughter stuck in a loveless marriage...
The Marquis kept talking, but she couldn't hear what he was saying. His words were all drowned out by the rage that had taken over her. She was sick of it all: being controlled, her intelligence being ignored, being regarded as little more than a pawn by her own father...and why? Because she was a woman?
"And so" Claster continued "You should consider this a duty to the family and to yourself as well, what would everyone think if you, a marquis' daughter, married an ugly worthless servant boy? One day you will see-"
He never got to finish that sentence. Gumina had been pushed past her breaking point. Before she knew it, she had grabbed a book from the shelf behind her, a big volume on the arts of politics, heavy enough to deliver a fatal blow to someone's head. Having lost her temper, she struck her father with it. Claster fell to the ground not moving, his neck twisted in an unnatural angle. His daughter stood above him with the object that had ended the marquis' life in her hands. For a moment she was silent. Then she fell to her knees and burst into tears.
