“Corbin…”
Fran approached, feet not quite leaving the ground as she shuffled towards him. He tilts his head at her, echoing her tone.
“Fran…”
Finally, she reaches him, wrapping slender arms around his torso and pulling him in. Fran sniffs suspiciously, although Corbin couldn’t tell if she was actually crying or not.
He wasn’t.
And then he was.
The hug shook as he cried— as they both cried. She pressed her face against his collarbone as he clung to her, rubbing gentle circles with his palm against the middle of her back.
There’s a small comfort in the back of Corbin’s mind that’s grateful that they’re comfortable with the silence. And better yet, she knows what he’s saying— what they’re both saying.
It’s okay. It’s all over.
It’s going to be okay.
