Work Text:
Kiyoomi was messaging Atsumu’s calves as his lover hums and rubs his small four month bump. Suddenly the doorbell rang, causing Atsumu to spring up from his position and head towards their front door. A few minutes later, Atsumu came back with more material than the single package.
“Baby, what are you doing?” Kiyoomi asked.
“None of ya business.” Atsumu responded, but he still sat on Kiyoomi’s lap, getting comfy as he opened up his package.
Inside was a notebook, and Kiyoomi had to bite his tongue to not comment on the fact that they have a lot of blank notebooks at home. He did not want to upset Atsumu because recently his omega had learnt that a good way to make your alpha listen to you was to make him sleep without you for a week. Oikawa Tooru was the one who taught him this.
“This is for our baby,” Atsumu said as he leaned back. “I want ta write down everything.”
“If it makes you happy, I will buy you ten more books.” Kiyoomi mumbled as he pressed slow kisses to Atsumu’s scent gland, causing the latter to let out a laugh.
“We only need one, darling.” Atsumu paused before whispering. “Unless ya put another baby in me after this little one.”
Atsumu had never seen Kiyoomi’s ears heat up the way it did. He shook his head in disbelief before flicking the alpha’s forehead and telling him not to get any ideas.

Dear baby,
This is Papa’s first letter to you. Four months ago, me and your Daddy were in the bathroom staring at the five tests that your Papa took. I couldn’t believe it when they all came back positive. Your Daddy cried, you know that? He doesn’t cry a lot, although he cried when we got married, but I think your Daddy already loves you. He talks to you all the time even if you couldn’t hear since you were so tiny, but next month you will hear how much your Daddy loves you. Are you excited? If you’re wondering whether Papa loves you, of course I do! How could I not? I wanted you for so long, my baby.
We went to see you for the first time last week, and Papa was so overwhelmed with happiness. I couldn’t believe you were real, that you were here in my belly. I will protect you with everything I have. The doctor said you were the size of an avocado, you’re so small! I hope Papa and Daddy are treating you well as you stay in my belly.
That’s all for today. I love you so much. I can’t wait to see you.
Your Papa,
Sakusa Atsumu.

Hiya my baby,
Today, you've been in Papa’s belly for five months! This means you are the size of a mango, what a cutie. Your Daddy was overjoyed when he found out that you can hear us now. So he talks to you everyday, but what surprised me was that you are responding! Papa wishes that you stop kicking me so hard, you’re quite a kicker, aren't ya? Don’t worry, I will forgive you because you are my baby. Sometimes I can’t sleep and I feel so lonely when your Daddy is fast asleep next to me, but lately you have been keeping me company. You are such a sweetheart.
Did you find our conversations interesting? I wonder what you would want to hear next. But I think you just like it when Papa talks right? You just kicked me! That must be true then. I like you too. I think it’s taking forever for me and your Daddy to meet you. But we will be patient, as long as you're healthy, Papa doesn’t mind waiting.
We have been looking at names that would fit you, it is so hard to pick out names! I want it to be perfect. I guess we would wait until we find out your due date and your gender. I love you.
Your loving Papa,
Sakusa Atsumu.

Dear baby,
You are six months and the size of an eggplant. You are getting big, baby. Papa is a bit more tired, and my everything hurts. But that’s okay, because you don’t cause Papa any trouble! You are such a good baby. You already remind me a lot of your Daddy, always so understanding even when Papa complains so much. During our meeting with the doctor, we found out your gender and when you would be due! Well, we decided to do a small gender reveal with a cake that your Uncle Samu had baked for us. I cried when I found out your gender.
My baby girl.
I am so happy to know that we are having a girl. Even though I think you would’ve been perfect whether you were a girl or a boy, I am just so excited to have you. The thing is… Papa just loves you so much that every small thing I find out about you makes me cry. It’s safe to say that you are my everything.
However, Papa’s been really upset these days. I am scared that I am causing you stress because my pheromones are all over the place. I made your Daddy really mad, and he hasn’t been talking to me. I am sorry for the fact that I made it impossible for your Daddy to continue connecting with you. Your Daddy is the best husband I could ask for, and yet Papa always upsets him. Normally he would just make us talk and we could fix it, but this time he was so mad, he even yelled. I hope you don’t think that your Daddy is the wrong one here. It is all Papa’s fault, so don’t get mad at your Daddy, okay?
Your Daddy works very hard for us, especially since Papa had to take off work so I could take care of you 24/7. He practices very hard, which means he comes home tired. But he always comes home with food or anything that I had asked for.
A few days ago, your Daddy came home and he had forgotten to stop by the supermarket to buy strawberries and whipping cream. I wasn’t thinking and I accused your Daddy of not caring about me and you. He apologized and told me that he would go out early tomorrow to buy some before we woke up. But your Papa never knows how to keep my mouth shut, so I told him I wished I had a better alpha. I guess your Daddy wasn’t feeling well, and I pushed him to the point where he yelled at me saying that maybe I should just go find a better alpha. He stopped talking to me after that.
Papa is very sorry, baby. I am sorry that I made your Daddy mad and now you can’t talk to him. But you know your Daddy loves you so much that even if he doesn’t want to talk to me, he still makes sure you get your kisses. That’s the type of person your Daddy is, he is a good man through and through. I hope your Daddy talks to me next time I write to you.
Papa loves you,
Atsumu.

A few days later after their fight, Kiyoomi spent more time in the gym with his friends.
“Hey, finally caring about your friends more?” Hajime asked, it was a joke really, but he didn’t miss the way Kiyoomi put on a fake smile.
“Yeah. You’re complaining?” Kiyoomi said as he placed down his dumbbells.
“He’s not complaining, we’re just shocked.” Tetsurou stated, and Koutarou who was next to him nodded in agreement.
“Everything okay though? How’s Atsumu and your baby doing?” Wakatoshi asked in concern.
“Yeah, everything's fine.” Kiyoomi responded, the others were quickly realizing that he doesn’t sound like himself.
“Ya can tell me if Tsumu is causing ya a hard time, you know?” Aran added.
Kiyoomi let out a dry laugh, “We haven't been talking recently.”
The others looked at him with worry, Kiyoomi was the youngest in their group and for a first time parent, it is hard. They all know it well.
“Don’t worry about it. I can almost smell your worries.” Kiyoomi quickly changed the subject.
Later in the day, Kiyoomi did stop by the supermarket to buy some mangos as it was what Atsumu was craving recently. Atsumu only sends him texts, apologizing before saying that he wants something. Maybe he was too harsh on the omega, but he can’t help it. Atsumu’s first response when he’s upset is to compare Kiyoomi to other alphas, and he is so damn tired of it. Because he’s trying his best too.
Kiyoomi walked into the house, and he was hit with the sweet honey smell of Atsumu. He walked into the kitchen placing down his groceries bag when he heard a voice.
“Y’re home, Omi?”
Kiyoomi tried not to answer because he knows he’s going to say something snarky, and that would hurt Atsumu. So instead he takes out the mangos, and starts to prepare them for Atsumu. But of course Atsumu doesn’t let him work in silence.
“Why are you still mad at me?’ Atsumu questioned.
“I’m not.” Kiyoomi replied as he cut the mango into bite-sized pieces.
“Sure. That's why you refuse to talk to me?” Atsumu watches as Kiyoomi’s grip on the knife tightens.
“Atsumu, I’m tired.”
“Y’re alw—”
“Shut up! Please. Fuck, just shut up for once.”
“Sorry.”

Dear baby,
You’ve been a bit quiet lately. That’s probably because you miss your Daddy right? I promise I would talk to your Daddy better, sometimes Papa just doesn't think and says whatever comes to my mind. Anyways, you are seven months now, and the size of a papaya. I feel like we’re getting closer to meeting you. I am so excited.
The doctor said I would need to be taken care of more because she found that my stress levels are high and that’s not good for you. Our first priority is you, always. I hope you’re not too upset by that. It’s not something bad, okay? Me and your Daddy just love you, so we want you to be the healthiest you can be! That means your Daddy started sleeping next to me again, and I feel really happy. I think you feel happy too, because you’re so active now.
I hope you’re also not mad at Papa. Although every time I apologize to you, you kick me hard until I stop saying that it is my fault. But in the end, you and I both know that it is Papa’s responsibility to fix this, and I will because you are already my biggest supporter.
I’m sorry I just been talking about me and your Daddy’s fight recently. To be honest, you’re really all Papa has. I couldn’t ask for anything better though. I will start being happy again, I promise. Just for you, my baby. Don’t forget how much Papa loves you, okay?
Your Papa,
Atsumu.

Atsumu walked into Kiyoomi’s office. Kiyoomi was cleaning out some books that he had stopped reading, so that he could give them to Keiji.
“Omi?” Atsumu called out.
“What?” Kiyoomi replied, his cold tone making Atsumu flinch.
“Can we talk? Please?” Atsumu asked quietly, his hands instinctively protecting his baby bump.
After hearing how small Atsumu’s voice sounded, Kiyoomi regretted his tone. He walked over to Atsumu, and guided him to sit on the sofa in his office. When Atsumu clinged onto him, he made sure to scent his omega, so he could calm down.
“I missed ya. ‘M sorry fer always causin’ you trouble. I just– everything is just a mess in my head,” Atsumu felt his tears drop. “I’m sorry, please don’t leave me.”
“What? Atsumu, I never thought of leaving you.”
“I know, but I told ya I would find a better alpha and– and I always make ya feel like y’re less of an alpha.”
“You do make me upset every time you compare me to other alphas. I’m trying my best too, Atsumu. I want to be as good of a husband as other people too. I hope you can realize that, but never in my life have I ever thought of walking out on you.”
“You deserve better, Kiyoomi. I wish–” Atsumu sobbed. “I wish you never had to marry me and deal with me.”
“Atsumu.”
“No! No, you don’t understand. There’s people who want you ta be their husband, and they would’ve treated you better. But all y’re stuck with is me.”
“Atsumu, I choose you. In every lifetime, I would’ve chosen you.”
Atsumu sobs are getting louder, “I’m sorry. I’m a mess.”
“That’s okay. It's not your fault, baby. It must be hard on you.” Kiyoomi softly kisses Atsumu’s temples as he tries to release his calming pheromones to soothe his distressed omega.
Atsumu calmed down after a few minutes, “I’m lucky to have ya.”
Kiyoomi smiled, before pressing a kiss on Atsumu’s lips. “Mmhmm, but I have you as my husband. There’s nothing more lucky than that.”

Dear baby,
You are so lucky to have Sakusa Kiyoomi as your Daddy. There is no one more perfect in the world. I am writing this today because me and your Daddy had talked, and we fixed everything. I hope that whenever you’re upset with us, you can also talk to us as freely.
I know I always tell you that your Daddy loves you a lot, but I will keep telling you because you deserve to know that we want you really badly. I always wanted to start a family with your Daddy, but it was for the future. How lucky are we that you just came at the perfect time?
You will forever be our lucky charm. Our fresh start.
I have been eyeing a name for you for a few weeks now, and after everything that went down the past few weeks, I think this name is perfect for you. Perfect for us.
Sakusa Hazuki.
Hazuki, you are our reminder that no matter what happens, we could always begin again. When summer is nearing end, everyone is sad. But when the leaves start turning into pretty colors and start falling, we are able to enjoy a whole new season.
My sweetheart, you mean everything to me. Thank you for making me realize that nothing ever comes to the end in vain, it just helps us prepare for something better.
Your papa,
Sakusa Atsumu.

Dear Hazuki,
Happy eight months to you, we are getting closer and closer to meeting you. You have been getting heavier since you’re the size of a pumpkin now, so Papa is really tired. But don’t worry, Papa’s not mad at you! Your Daddy is getting some food for us right now, and I miss him so much. He’s really good at his massages, you know that? Papa feels like all of his stress is leaving every time your Daddy is near. I think you feel it too because you always move around when he’s near us.
I will have to admit that I am a little bit scared. You know Papa and all his worries. I'm just worried that something will happen, which is not good! I should think more positively, right? I will tell you some of the things I am excited to do with you.
First, I am excited to actually hold you in my arms. I’ve been carrying you for eight months, but I really want to hold your little hands, your little face, and your little feet. You already give me cuteness aggression when I think of you. Second, I’m excited to go on little adventures with you, but you would still be small so Papa will carry you around, don't worry. Third, I can’t wait to be a family with you. Sometimes I can’t believe our small family of two would be three when you come into the world. There are more but Papa can’t think right now! Also, your Daddy had been building everything in your nursery, he is so strong. I do hope you like how we organized your room. We have almost everything. We’re only missing you, my baby.
I can’t wait to meet you, Hazuki.
Your papa,
Sakusa Atsumu.

Dear Hazuki,
Hi, baby. You are nine months now, and Papa is so ready to bring you into this world. I have been laying down more because it is getting hard to walk with a big belly. Your Daddy has been by my side the whole time, he tried his best to not go outside. But of course Papa told him to go out, he can still have fun! Your Daddy is so stubborn. He said if he goes out and I go into labor, he’s going to miss the birth. I think your Daddy is such a dramatic alpha. How could I make him miss the birth of his first born? Sometimes I don’t understand your Daddy, but I love him so much. You will be due in one week, and I feel you drop a bit. I told your Daddy and guess what? He started freaking out! I was confused because he read so many books about pregnancy, why was he surprised? I really don’t understand him! You know, baby, I think I've been spending more time in the bathroom than anywhere else in the house. Try not to push down on my bladder so much, okay?
I don’t know what else to say other than the fact that I am so excited to meet you.
Your Papa,
Sakusa Atsumu.

Dear Hazuki,
Welcome to the world, my baby. You were born on the 28th of September at 6:45 A.M.
I will tell you about what went down before you were born. It was 1:30 A.M. when me and your Daddy were sleeping on our bed. I have been getting infrequent contractions all day on the 27th. I learnt that they were called braxton hicks contractions, so I took a lot of naps to make it go away. But when we were falling asleep, those contractions became a bit more frequent so I was a bit worried. Your Daddy told me to time them so I did, but then I ended up falling asleep. That sleep only lasted for two hours before it was getting really intense and frequent, so Papa decided to get up. That’s when my water broke!
Naturally I woke your Daddy up, and told him we were having a baby. You know how dramatic your Daddy is, he totally started to freak out. He had grabbed the hospital bag, called the hospital to tell them we were coming, and he wanted to help me get in the car. But Papa was trying to find this notebook! I wanted to tell you all about what happened. I think your Daddy sighs at least ten times before giving in to help me find this notebook. Then we went straight to the hospital. Papa tried to write on the way there, but you really wanted to come out so Papa wasn’t having a good time. Your Daddy confiscated my notebook. How mean!
I was in labor for about five hours. I think you wanted to meet us as much as we wanted to meet you because you kept trying to come out. But Papa wasn’t ready! I think it was funny to watch your Daddy’s pale face as if he was the one giving birth. He was just really worried about me. He kept apologizing for making me go through this. He is so silly! But soon, you were finally born and both of us cried so much. I still feel like crying even though you were born two hours ago! Papa took a small nap and woke up to write to you.
Right now, your Daddy is doing skin to skin with you. The nurse told me that you were crying a lot until you were placed into your Daddy’s arms. I can understand why! He is the most comforting person ever. I can’t wait to hold you too, Papa just needs a bit of rest.
Welcome to our family, Hazuki. You are all I ever wanted. I love you, my sweet baby.
Your Papa,
Sakusa Atsumu.

To Hazuki,
Hi sweetheart. It’s Daddy, it’s my turn to write about you now that you are born. So today…
