Work Text:
First Segment:
"Sozin, where's the last box of Fire Flakes?"
His father's scathing voice broke in as Sozin was eating breakfast.
"I don't know," Sozin lied, "Maybe ask Zeisan."
Taiso was not convinced, "She does not eat Fire Flakes, not how you do."
Sozin frowned, "What are you implying?"
Taiso shook his head, "Never mind. I just wished Agni had given me an honest son."
Well that's a shame, Sozin thought coldly.
Taiso then said something Sozin did not expect.
Second Segment:
"Well, Father, I believed your head is not in the right." Sozin said, trickery itching in his sleeves. "After all, you don't know me as much as you thought so. I don't eat Fire Flakes at all."
Taiso brows knitted together. "I know you well enough."
Sozin shook his head. "You don't."
The atmosphere is eerily quiet. Like the calm before the storm.
Third Segment:
'I have spent enough dinners with my own son to know his eating habits' Taiso spat.
Sozin's heart dropped. His father had never called him out for it, but it was an undeniable truth and one that made Sozin feel like a weak child disappointing his father.
'At least I'm not weak. Don't you know? A man needs to eat, father.'
