Summary
It was always you takes place in an au where Bobby has an adoptive daughter named Elowyn. Her and her parents were victims of a demon attack, leaving her orphaned and alone until Bobby found her covered in blood. He couldn’t just leave her, so he took her in. The longer time passed with Elowyn in his care, the more he started to care about her and took this as his second chance at family. About a year later, at eight years old, Elowyn meets the Winchester boys.
For the sake of the storyline, Sam and Dean are older when they last see Bobby (and Elowyn) before John takes them away. But, they are still the same age by the start of Season 2, where it was always you takes place.
It was always you is a slow burn for all the Dean girls who wished they could have been there for him after John’s death. For all the yearners and lovers of angst.
