Chapter Text
[At the Loud House, Lincoln is looking over a board full of pictures and notes.]
Lynn: [Shows up] Trying to solve another case, Detective? Or are you plotting to commit one?
Lincoln: I'm just doing a favor for Trent.
Lynn: A favor? [Notices a picture of a familiar face] Oh. I see. Richie Baines.
Lincoln: Right before we got pulled into that… rogue arcade cabinet, Trent told me that he's not the only person from Chandler's posse that I should be helping. The only problem is that neither one of us has anything to go on. Richie is apparently so secretive, even to Chandler.
Lynn: Wasn't Richie partnered with Clyde during that camping trip?
Lincoln: Actually, I already tried asking Clyde, but even he didn't get much. The only thing he got from Richie is that he's part Korean on his mother's side.
Leni: [Shows up] Part Korean?
Lincoln: Richie's words, not Clyde's. Though the problem for him is that he's not the best at showcasing that side of himself to anyone other than people of Asian descent.
Leni: Hmm. Maybe I can get Sebastian to talk to Richie. He and Jackee are part Vietnamese on their mom's side, but Sebastian's better at showcasing it.
Lynn: That could work.
Lincoln: Okay. Now, we just need a hangout spot for them. [Gets an idea] And I think I've got just the place.
[THE NEXT DAY…]
[Jean Juan's French Mex Buffet. Clyde is waiting by the front entrance, looking around for Richie.]
Clyde: Come on, where are you? [He tries using his phone to call Richie, only to spot him arriving.] Ah, there he is.
Richie: I'm surprised that you kept my number.
Clyde: Believe me, I've been contemplating deleting it.
Richie: Why are we here at Jean Juan's of all places, Clyde? This isn't a restaurant that you'd frequent.
Clyde: I know, but I only brought you here because this is going to be a 4-way hangout. We just need to wait for the remaining 2 guests to arrive.
Familiar Voice: Wait no longer. We're here.
[The boys turn to see Jackee and an irritated Sebastian arriving.]
Clyde: Jackee! Sebastian! So nice of you to arrive. [To Richie] Richie, meet two of the Loud Family's friends, Jackee Lowry, and her little brother, Sebastian. [To the siblings] Jackee, Sebastian, allow me to introduce Rich-
Sebastian: I know who Richie Baines is, genius. We're in the same school. And he's one of the nut jobs who hangs out with Chandler. Not to mention, he vandalized our house during Christmas.
Richie: Wait. That was your house?
Sebastian: [Groans] This has Lincoln written all over it. I just know it.
Richie: [Surprised] Lincoln?! [To Clyde] You said that you suggested this on a whim! You didn't say anything about Lincoln!
Clyde: So, what if it is Lincoln's idea?
Sebastian: Then, you tell him that he's an idiot for coming up with this. [Enters]
Jackee: Sorry about that. He's been miffed ever since the Christmas fiasco.
Richie: Miffed with me, or miffed with Lincoln?
Jackee: Doesn't matter. Anyway, if this really is Lincoln's idea, then I can see why he would come up with this.
Clyde: So can I. [To Richie] Didn't you tell me that you're part Korean?
Richie: Are these two of Korean descent?
Jackee: Vietnamese, actually.
Clyde: But you also added that you're comfortable talking to others of Asian descent.
Richie: But I didn't think I'd be hanging out with someone whose house was vandalized by me, Trent, and Chandler.
Jackee: Well, if it helps, neither did I, but regardless, I'm willing to chat with a fellow Asian-American. [She and the boys enter.]
Clyde: Still, according to Leni, you don't exactly talk about your Vietnamese heritage. That's Sebastian's job.
Jackee: A misconception on Leni's part. Sebastian can't be the only one to do so.
[Meanwhile, Lincoln, Lynn, and Leni are across the street, using surveillance equipment.]
Lynn: Lisa's gonna kill us if she finds out that we have her surveillance equipment.
Lincoln: Don't worry. I got permission from her.
Leni: Why didn't you say so?
Lincoln: I was busy setting it up. [Checks a monitor] Okay. The hidden camera that Clyde's holding should be activating right about… [The monitor shows a feed from said camera.] …now. [Clyde places a camera in a hidden spot at the assigned table.] And Clyde has struck gold.
Leni: Already? [Watches the monitor] Oh. At… that.
Lincoln: Patience, Leni. They've only just started. When they do start chatting, it'll be mostly about their respective cultures, but sooner or later, Richie will finally confess to something about his friendship with Chandler. [Puts some headphones on] And I'm gonna see if I can do something about it.
[A quick montage shows the next several minutes, with Lynn and Leni starting to get bored, while Lincoln is still surveying the conversation.]
Lynn: How are you not bored yet?
Lincoln: If my own past misdeeds are anything to go by, I'm not just gonna take-
Clyde: [Through the headphones] You know, it's a miracle that Chandler isn't biased against minorities.
Lincoln: Hang on.
Richie: [Through the headphones] No, he's just an average control freak who chooses whoever he wants to brand as "cool" or "lame".
Jackee: [Through the headphones] Come to think of it, how did you meet Chandler?
Richie: Oh, gosh. Do I have to bring that up?
Clyde: Sooner or later, you're gonna have to open up to someone. Trent even told us that you're secretive.
Richie: [Groans] Of course. [Sighs] Fine. I might as well spill the beans. Just try to keep it between us. Despite what Trent had to go through, I can assure you guys that I'm capable of handling Chandler myself.
Lincoln: [Raises the volume] Sounds like someone is about to open up on his personal life.
[Inside, Richie starts to explain to Clyde and the Lowry siblings, though Sebastian is still uninterested.]
Richie: Before I met Chandler, I was just regular and normal. I wasn't exactly into troublemaking and such. If anything, you can thank Chandler for… influencing me. One day, I was just minding my own business, playing in a sandbox in a local park, when all of a sudden, this pack of older kids approached me and told me to leave. But I held my ground, saying that they don't own the sandbox. Then, they told me that they know that they don't own the sandbox, but rather, they were saying that I shouldn't be playing in the sandbox. When I asked why, they pointed at the jacket I was wearing.
Clyde: They pointed at your jacket?
Richie: More like they pointed at what was on it. It was plastered with Korean symbols. [Clyde and Jackee gasp] Yep. I knew right then and there why they were bullying me. Naturally, I ignored them and wanted to resume my business. But they didn't take that kindly. So, they beat me up.
[Flashback to when Richie was getting beaten up.]
Richie: Stop it! STOP IT!
[The bullies hold him up as one of them is about to go for a big punch.]
?: Hey!
[Everyone turns to see a group of boys led by…]
Chandler: [Holds up a phone] I just dialed 9-1-1. Cops are on their way now.
[The bullies drop Richie and run off in a panic.]
Unnamed Boy 1: And off, they go.
Chandler: [Laughs] Works every time. I tell you, those Hazeltuckey squawkers are so easy to trick.
Richie: [Gets up] Uh… Th-Thanks. Thanks for… saving me.
Chandler: Don't be flattered, kid. I only chased them off because they were intruding on our turf. We only help ourselves. [He and his gang leave.]
Richie's Narration: I wasn't too surprised that they only did that for themselves… [Richie notices that two of the boys stayed behind; Trent and Lance.] …but there were two members who had different thought processes.
Trent: [He and Lance turn to Richie.] Ignore him. He's always like that. But at least, he's not biased towards minorities. [Extends his hand] I'm Trent by the way. Trent Matthews.
Lance: I'm Lance Keaton.
Richie: I'm Richie. [Shakes Trent's hand] Richie Baines.
[Cut back to the present.]
Clyde: Huh. You also met Trent and Lance on the same day.
Richie: Despite what Chandler told me that day, I was still grateful for his intervention. So, I mainly hung out with Trent and Lance. Heck, we often did things behind Chandler's back. All in all, I wasn't such a loner anymore. [Sighs] But then, Chandler and his gang encountered me at my house one day. He, uh… He got the address from Lance. It started making me question my gratitude towards him.
[Flashback to Chandler and his gang talking to Richie in the latter's bedroom.]
Richie: Why are you being so hardheaded about it? The three of us are just hanging out with one another.
Chandler: Well, you're doing so a little too frequently, not to mention behind my back. I don't know what you guys have been doing, but honestly, I don't care. I want you to lay off.
Richie: Lay off? I've been expressing my gratitude for you saving me on the day we first met.
Chandler: And I told you that I only did that just to get those Hazeltuckey bozos off our turf.
Lance: Chandler, might I suggest something?
Chandler: Not now, Lance. I'm in the middle of-
Lance: You said that you don't mind if members of our gang hang out without you. Why don't we have Richie join us? That way, you can put up with him, and he can continue hanging out with me and Trent.
Richie: Join you guys? That… never crossed my mind. I just wanted to hang out with you in general.
Chandler: Hmm… Maybe that isn't such a bad idea. [To himself] I can finally get him to knock it off. [To Richie] Alright, Richie. The deal is simple. Join our gang, and you can continue hanging out with Trent and Lance as often as you'd like.
Richie: And if I don't?
Unnamed Boy 1: [Gets up on Richie's face] Then, we get to splatter your face all over the wall.
Unnamed Boy 2: Or we can use this to our advantage. [Everyone turns to see him grab a teddy bear from a shelf, making Richie gasp.]
Unnamed Boy 3: Ooh. How cute. Blue boy's got a teddy bear.
Unnamed Boy 4: How come one of his eyes is an X?
Unnamed Boy 2: Maybe he's half-dead. [He and the boys guffaw, only for Richie to snatch the bear away.]
Richie: Don't… touch him! Bannister means a lot to me. He's a hand-me-down from my dad.
Chandler: [Whispers in Richie's ear] Is that so? [Richie shivers] It'd be a shame if something were to happen to him. [Motions for his gang to follow him, which they do, and they all leave the room, except for Trent.]
Trent: [Sighs] Dang it, Lance.
[Cut back to the present; this time, Sebastian is all ears.]
Richie: So, I joined Chandler's posse the following day. I got to continue hanging out with Trent and Lance, but as I said to you before, it made me question my gratitude.
Clyde: The nerve of them. Using someone's personal belongings to make them… Why, I'd be irate if someone threatened to ruin my One-Eyed Jack costume just to make me do their bidding.
Jackee: So, all of those misdeeds that you've committed were… just for show?
Richie: Yes. I never even told my parents the truth behind the change in my behavior. They assume that I was just merely influenced by Chandler, and that assumption has stuck with them to this day. Of course, I ended up giving in to the temptation and started finding enjoyment in the misdeeds that we've caused, but even so, I can never forget why I even joined Chandler in the first place.
Jackee: Richie, I think maybe you should have Lincoln and Trent help you pull out of Chandler's posse. This doesn't sound like a solo job.
Richie: That may be, but even before I met Chandler, I've handled all kinds of situations all by myself. [Cut back to across the street, where Lynn and Leni are now wearing headphones.] I'm sure that my problem with Chandler will be no different.
Lincoln: I don't think so, Richie. Chandler's mind has been evolving ever since the Halloween issue last year. [He and the girls remove their headphones] It's only a matter of time.
Leni: I hate it when that happens.
Lynn: You're not alone on that.
[The next day, at Royal Woods Middle School, Lincoln, Lynn, and Clyde are relaying their findings to the crew.]
Lynn: Richie thinks he has it under control, but we knew right then and there that he was being overconfident.
Trent: Yeah, that's been a problem ever since he joined Chandler's posse, even after he started getting used to committing misdeeds.
Liam: So, how do we show Richie that he can't do everything by himself?
Lincoln: Somehow, we have to find a way to pit Richie against Chandler, while also having to keep Bannister safe.
Rusty: Only one problem: Richie said to keep it between himself, Clyde, Sebastian, and Jackee.
Clyde: Then, I'll go to Richie's house to keep Bannister safe. I'm sure he'll trust me.
Zach: But yesterday was only the first time he told you about that bear of his.
[Unbeknownst to them, a trio of boys is watching from afar.]
Clyde: Well, Richie and I did have that brief partnership during our camping trip from our elementary days. So, he can trust me. We're practically ambassadors for each other's gangs.
[The boys leave, and one of them, Miguel, pulls out his phone and dials a number.]
Chandler: [Over the phone] Yes, Mig?
Miguel: Chandler, we've got a problem. Darren, Kyle, and I made a shocking discovery.
Chandler: How shocking?
[Later, Chandler's gang, with the exception of Richie, is gathered in their own clubroom; the door has a sign saying "McCann Clan".]
Chandler: [From inside] He what?! [Cut to inside, revealing a room similar to the Action News Team's] I warned him at the start of middle school not to hang out with anyone outside the gang! And now, Lincoln Lame and his posse of "do whatever the heck you want" misfits know about that stupid bear! [Groans] Now, it's gonna be a repeat of Trent! Only this time, it's someone who wants to get out, whereas Trent never even considered such a delusion until after the Halloween fiasco.
Miguel: Well, how should we approach this?
Chandler: No doubt that one of them is gonna head straight over to Richie's house to keep that bear safe. And the Louds may know about it too. So, we have to keep them all busy while conjuring up a plan to end their crusade of helping Richie escape our gang.
Darren: [Uses a calculator] Lincoln's group has 8 members in total… including… Trent. [Chandler scoffs] He also has his 10 sisters and both parents. Plus, there are those 2 siblings.
Kyle: That's… 22 people. And there are only 10 or 14 of us.
Kat: Not true. Being the richest kid in the school, I have my connections, including some help from Royal Woods' other schools. I should be able to have some students keep Lincoln's sisters busy, along with that older sibling.
Joy: Including the oldest one?
Kat: Of course, I'm including Lori Loud. And I'm sure those same people will keep the parents occupied as well. That just leaves us with Lincoln's crew and Sebastian.
Unnamed Boy 1: Any ideas?
Unnamed Boy 2: Perhaps we could… send them off to do a… degrading task?
Unnamed Boy 3: How degrading?
Unnamed Boy 4: It has to be rather stressful enough for them to break.
Chandler: Hmm… [Someone knocks at the door, catching the gang's attention.]
Kat: Who is it?
Female Voice: It's Bella.
Chandler: Come in.
Bella: [Opens the door and enters] Uh… Do I want to know what you're discussing right now?
Kat: We're gonna teach Richie a lesson in loyalty.
Chandler: And at the same time, we're gonna simultaneously humiliate Lincoln Lame's group beyond repair. We just need to find a degrading job for them to do.
Bella: Well, this is where I come in. [Shows a newspaper] Look what the Royal Woods Gazette just produced.
Chandler: [Reads the front page… smirks] Interesting.
[Royal Woods Police Department. Officer Schoffner is chatting with two of her coworkers.]
Officer: The way I figured, that rascal will get 2 years.
Officer 2: 2 years?
Officer: 2 years.
Officer Schoffner: Well, you'd better hope so. Need I remind you of who the defender will be?
Officer: Yeah, yeah. We know. It's Richard Hutchins. One of Oakland County's finest lawyers.
Officer 2: Even if that guy is found guilty, Hutchins will likely give him the "best deal possible".
Officer Schoffner: It's just how he works. That guy could even get delinquents like Chandler McCann off the hook. [Just then, her desk phone rings, and she answers.]
Officer Schoffner: Royal Woods Police Department. Officer Schoffner here.
[Cut to Grand Rapids Police Department.]
Man: Schoffner, this is Captain Delaney. Grand Rapids Police Department. Listen, have you ever heard of Eddie Barton?
[Cut to Royal Woods Police Department.]
Officer Schoffner: [Surprised] Eddie Barton? [Her coworkers turn to her.] You mean that big league mastermind behind the Grand Rapids Outfit?
Captain Delaney: That's the one. [Cut to Grand Rapids Police Department.] The one they call "The Al Capone of Grand Rapids, Michigan". We had him bound over here for trial, and that fancy mouthpiece he hired won him a change of venue.
[Cut to Royal Woods Police Department. Leni arrives and overhears them.]
Officer Schoffner: Change of venue? No kidding.
[Cut to Grand Rapids Police Department.]
Captain Delaney: Trial's going to be held in Oakland County now. So, why don't you just come over here and pick him up? He's aII yours.
[Cut to Royal Woods Police Department.]
Officer Schoffner: Yeah, we'll do it. Unfortunately, I can't be the one to bring him over. I'll, uh… I'll have to send some guys over to you.
Captain Delaney: Very well. Nice talking to you.
Officer Schoffner: Likewise. [Hangs up]
Officer: Well, well, well, well. So, Mister Eddie Barton's won himself a change of venue.
Leni: Who?
Officer Schoffner: [Notices Leni] Oh, hey, Leni. What brings you here?
Leni: My friend, Fiona, got a parking ticket the other day. I just came by to pay the fine for her. So, who's Eddie Barton?
Officer 2: A notorious crime boss from Grand Rapids.
Leni: Grand Rapids? That's like over 100 miles away in Kent County.
Officer Schoffner: 147. To be exact.
Officer: GRPD called and said that we need to transfer him over here to Oakland County.
Leni: Why? Shouldn't it be a problem for Grand Rapids?
Officer 2: It was, but then, Barton's defense lawyer won him a change of venue.
Leni: Change of venue? What kind of game do you have to play to win yourself a venue?
[The coworkers turn to Schoffner in confusion.]
Officer Schoffner: Do you see what I have to put up with?
Officer: Well, I… guess we can't help but pity you, Schoff. [To Leni] It means a change of judicial jurisdiction. Get it? [Leni tries to think about it.] Moving from one court to another, airhead.
Officer 2: Airhead.
Officer Schoffner: Shh!
Officer: How much did you get to know anyhow? [Whispers to Schoffner] Get her out.
Officer Schoffner: [Pulls Leni away] Listen, Leni, why don't you follow me? I'll show you where to pay the fine.
Leni: Uh, sure. Thanks, Officer Schoffner.
[Back at the McCann Clan's clubroom, it's revealed that the newspaper's front page was talking about Eddie Barton's transfer.]
Joy: So, Eddie Barton's gonna be in Oakland County. Good God, I love it already.
Chandler: You know what this really means?
Bella: What?
Chandler: People are going to start pouring into Oakland County just to see that trial. People by the carload. Checking into the hotels, eating in the restaurants, drinking in the bars, spending all that money. Oh, it'll be a great day for Oakland County, including Royal Woods. It's going to be better than the Grand Ole Opry.
Miguel: Are you suggesting that we send Lincoln's gang on a dangerous assignment?
Chandler: Not just those guys. I'm gonna Richie out there as well.
Darren: W-Wait a minute! You wanna send Richie out to escort a notorious crime boss?
Kyle: Yeah, Eddie Barton's mafia ain't just gonna sit by and watch him being moved without trying to help him escape. I thought the plan was to teach him a lesson in loyalty, not get his fooI head shot off.
Chandler: I know, which is why we're going to send him off to Grand Rapids with a bulletproof helmet.
Unnamed Boy 1: So, what really is the plan then?
Chandler: Well, as the visitors pay to watch the trial and such, Lincoln Lame and his cronies will be "helping" Richie with the escort job. All they have to do is fail, and people will blame them, and then, we jump in and brag to them about how their "noble intentions" are what led to their big failure. That way, Richie will remain with our gang after seeing how incompetent they are and that I'm the only person keeping his bear in one piece.
All: [Understanding] Oh.
Unnamed Boy 4: I get it. You want to use the bear as payment for their job.
Chandler: Likely, Lincoln Lame will use his "noble skills" to guide Richie in completing this task. If I bribe Richie under the condition that he completes the escort, then I'll still maintain my grip over him. If he succeeds, he'll get his precious bear back. If he fails, I'll give him one last warning to stop hanging out with those bozos, or I'll ruin that little thing in front of his eyes.
Kat: Ooh. Threatening. [Pulls out her phone] I'm going to pull some strings to get those rascals deputized by the police department.
Darren: Why do I have the feeling that this idea is just… wrong?
Chandler: 'Cause you don't have confidence in me.
[Later that evening, at the Baines House, Richie is finishing his homework when a knock is heard at his bedroom door.]
Richie: It's open. [The door opens, revealing Chandler and Kat.] Oh. Hey, you two.
Chandler: Can't we just drop by to see a buddy of mine?
Richie: I just finished my homework, Chandler. I wanna relax now.
Chandler: Alright. Kat and I know you wanna relax. It's not like I'm here to bother you or whatever.
Richie: What do you two want?
Kat: We have a task for you. A big-league task.
Richie: "Big-league"? [Kat shows the newspaper.] Eddie Barton?
Kat: A mafia boss from Grand Rapids, who is to be transferred from Kent County to Oakland County. I've… pulled some strings to have you escort him.
Richie: You want me to escort a mob boss from Grand Rapids to… wherever he's gonna be taken to in Oakland County? Why would you want me to do such a dangerous task?
Chandler: Oh… no reason. I might've heard that you've been playing the role of Kat's bodyguard lately.
Richie: Admittedly. You've been doing misdeeds with Trent more often.
Chandler: Shame that those days are over. Trent was quite the partner at the time. But at least, I get to spend more time with you.
Richie: I'd rather be alone for the moment.
Kat: Oh, come on, Richie. Where's the harm in putting your usual methods on a bigger job?
Richie: No doubt that this mob boss will have his goons coming to his rescue. Do you really want me to risk my life?
Kat: Well, you are a man of action in your own right.
Richie: I am, but now is not the best time for me. I already have so much in my mind right now.
Chandler: Oh? You mean like your recent outing… with McBride?
Richie: [Surprised] Wait. How did you know that? Who told you that?
Chandler: Why, Mig, Darren, and Kyle told me after overhearing him… along with Lincoln Lame.
Richie: Lincoln? How did Lincoln- [Realizes] He spied on me, didn't he?!
Chandler: From what we heard, yes, he did.
Richie: [Growls] I'm gonna give Lincoln a piece of my mind for not only arranging that outing the other day, but for also eavesdropping on our conversations!
Kat: Hold on, hotshot. You can save it for the escort job. I've also pulled strings to have Lincoln and his crew participate in the task as well.
Richie: No, there isn't going to be any task. I'm going to confront Lincoln and Clyde right now.
Kat: [Grabs Bannister] Uh, no, you don't.
Chandler: So help us, Richie, we'll throw Bannister into your food processor and make it look like an accident if you choose to back out from-
Richie: OKAY, OKAY! [Takes Bannister back] Fine! I'll do your stupid assignment.
Chandler: That's what we thought. [He and Kat leave.]
Kat: Bye. [Closes the door]
Richie: [Lies down on his bed, groaning] What am I gonna do, Bannister?
[Outside the house, Chandler and Kat walk away.]
Kat: Well, that went differently than we thought.
Chandler: And we built some tension between him and Low-Life Loud.
[Both kids snicker evilly]
[The next day, the Louds, Jackee, and the McCann Clan watch as Officer Schoffner deputizes Lincoln, Clyde, Liam, Trent, Rusty, Zach, Stella, Kara, Sebastian, and a miffed Richie.]
Officer Schoffner: The Oakland County Sheriff should be here to do this task, but he's got his hands full with other pressing matters. So, on behalf of both law enforcement departments. I hereby deputize the 10 of you kids as deputies of Oakland County.
Lincoln: I'm not sure if we can go through with this.
Clyde: Yeah, we could be sent to early graves.
Lori: Well, it wouldn't be the first time, considering what you guys do for a liv-
Jackee: [Nudges her] Will you shut up?
Lori: I thought you were on our side.
Jackee: Only because Sebastian's going out. I can handle your brother and his pack. [Glances at Trent] Well… 7 of them at least.
Luna: Trent's still a newbie. Just let his actions do the talking.
Chandler: [Approaches Richie and whispers] Remember, Richie. You could refuse it, but that means that I'm gonna do something really bad to your teddy bear, and I'm gonna make you watch.
Officer 3: [Passes a pack of weapons to Lincoln] Here are your guns. Some of them are tasers. Others have non-lethal rounds so that you don't accidentally kill or maim each other.
Lincoln: I've used a dart blaster and a squirt gun before. I know how these work.
Officer 3: [To the others] Are any of you first-timers? [The kids glance at one another… until Sebastian raises his hand.] Then, you're in for a rude awakening. [Passes a taser to him] Use this one for now.
[Just then, Kat, Joy, Bella, and several other girls show up.]
Kat: Well, if it ain't the Action Deputy Team.
Sebastian: So, you're the one who arranged for this, Kat? I should have known better. I mean, any of your personal peons can hardly go night-night without you blowing off steam onto them.
Kat: My, my, how those badges glisten when the light strikes them right.
Joy: Ain't that so, girls? [The other girls nod.]
Bella: Yeah, they do glisten.
Officer Schoffner: [To herself] A lot better than mine.
Kat: You guys have a job to do, don't you? Better get on it.
Richie: Oh, we'll get on it. [Glances at Lincoln's crew] I just wish I didn't have to do so with… them. [He and the others leave.]
Chandler: Muckrakers, am I right?
Clyde: Zip it, Chandler.
Officer 3: There's an officer waiting for you by the way. He'll do the driving while you're busy with the protection detail.
Sebastian: Whatever.
Joy: [Whispers to Chandler] I hope they fail.
Chandler: Well, you'd better also hope that it ends in Barton making a run for it on his own accord. I did some research on him. Apparently, he's quite slippery.
Joy: Still, who's to say that his organization isn't brave enough to take the risk of breaking him out?
[Meanwhile, two men load up a couple of handguns in their car.]
Gunman: The benefits of being Eddie Barton's business associate.
Gunman 2: When you associate with Eddie, his gang's gonna give you the business.
Gunman: Friends and neighbors, it looks like this party's gonna get rough. Don't you think so, Mister Kit?
Gunman 2: Indeed, it will be, Mister Wit.
[Both men guffaw evilly]
