Zygarde could not do this alone. That was the conclusion they had come to as they investigated the power radiating from Ange. For a thousand years, life energy had been stored in the center of this place of humans, only becoming more and more concentrated as the years passed. When the Lost One tried to use the Ultimate Weapon, it broke the dam and now the energy was saturating the very air and stone of this place.
Neutralizing the Ultimate Weapon had sapped Zygarde of their strength so they split themselves into their cells and spread them around the world so they might grow stronger, but time was short. At most, there were two months before Ange went rogue and they needed help.
They supposed they were fortunate, in a way. When the Ultimate Weapon activated, it caused the creation of new Mega Stones, including a Zygardite. Even with all the strength they regained, Zygarde knew they would need to Mega Evolve to be able to fully neutralize the excess life energy stored within Ange.
They kept the Lost One by their side since his troublemaking had extended his life, and they were determined to help the Lost One find his way, so he would not spend the next three millennia disrupting the natural order. But the Lost One could not be the one to help Zygarde Mega Evolve. Their cells were returning to Lumiose one by one, but Zygarde had only two months to find one who shared their resolve. A difficult task, indeed.
Somewhere, a blazing fire lit up the night and a cell shared the sight with Zygarde. People rushed around, trying to extinguish the fire engulfing the massive building, but they were losing the battle.
Why do you show me this?
The cell passed along the memory of a girl leaving the building as the fire began to flicker through the windows. She walked to a safe distance and settled in to watch the blaze. She still stood there, even as people shouted at her.
The girl caused such destruction? Why do you show me this?
More memories, the cell had stopped here for a time when they saw the girl. They thought she might be able to help Zygarde. She was careful that no person or Pokémon would come to harm when she caused the fire, and she did it to protect people and Pokémon from. This was her home and she destroyed it without hesitation or remorse, because they would not listen when she warned of danger.
One with the resolve to protect people and Pokémon, no matter the cost.
Zygarde agreed that she had potential, but they were not yet convinced.
