conch

Summary:

another short percabeth one shot! missing summer so im writing about it :3

Work Text:

camp half blood was always peak in summer. cabin 7 kids playing volleyball in the sun, cabin 5 practicing, the cabin 11 kids bothering everyone, cabin 10 girls tanning by the lakes.

annabeth had joined in on the tanning, off to the side of the lake where percy swam and collected shells.

a lot of shells.

every couple of minutes, he’d come out and empty his pockets, placing the shells on her bare legs before going back to get more. she didn’t mind, nor move besides flipping through the pages of an old greek book. of course, the shells had pilled up to the point where he couldn’t fit more on her legs.

“ta-da! you kinda look like a mermaid with all these shells.” he said, his skin tanner than usual and his entire body wet.

“a mermaid?” she laughed. “you look like a mermaid considering you’ve been swimming from 2 hours.”

he nuzzled his nose against hers before placing a gentle kiss on her lips, his lips wet and salty against her cherry chapstick flavored lips.

“plus, what even is that?” she said, pointing to the last shell in his hand.

“a conch.” he held up the pink and white speckled shell, fitting perfectly in the palm of his hand.

“you know that’s alive, right?..” she mumbled, looking at the little slimy creature poking out the shell.

“wha- oh shit!” he quickly got up, running back to the water and kicking sand against her skin.

“seaweed brain.” she laughed and mumbled under her breath, dusting the sand off her book.
