There was no one in the world capable of aggravating him more than this woman. But Iso supposed it was only fair considering what they’d put each other through–despite the tension and unflinching animosity between them, he could never truly bring himself to retaliate, knowing she had every right to her hatred, and he deserved every bit of it.
“I have truly fallen in love. Take my life, but don’t take Fadime from me, Koçari.”
He said nothing to that then, just rolled his eyes at her theatrical expression: exchanging barbs had always been their favourite method of communication.
But now, kneeling in the mud before Adil, with a gun pointed at his head, Iso was beginning to think the words might not be that far from the truth after all. Not because he truly harbored some kind of deep feeling for the wildcat, but because he had wronged her: perhaps more than anyone else in his life. Blind loyalty to his family had driven him to violation, and he never really felt like he could atone for that particular sin.
But maybe, just maybe, this was the way.
“Shoot me.”
