Sleep.
Sleep was something Rennick barely got at this point, and god, he needed it.
Rennick laid in his cabin by administration. The bed given to him by Cadal was less than comfortable, heck, one might even say it was worse than a rock! But he still slept as peacefully as a new born calf in a field of grass and flowers. Rennick snored softly as he slept, you wouldn't be able to hear him snore unless you were right next to him. In Rennick's hands.. there was something small, something you wouldn't expect from such a man, a small, torn teddy bear.. Well it wasn't a teddy bear, more like a kitten.. But still, Rennick couldn't sleep without it. He had been gifted it by his mother when he was little. She had told him to
'Keep that bugger safe, okay, Rennick? When i ain't here, hold 'im close and remember me.'
Those words always came back when he held it, it made him feel safe again, like he's just a kid again, playing outside with that plushie sitting by the ground near him, or when he was a teenager and acted tough around his friends, but then would go home just to snuggle that plush and fall asleep holding it. He kept it tightly in his grip, holding it as if he would die if he accidentally let go.
Trots was doing his usual rounds by the cabins, knocking on the doors of people he hadn't seen that morning to make sure they all woke up for their shifts, expect a few cause they had the day off. Lucky them.. Eh? Trots went around though, but once he was done, he realised something. Rennick hadn't woken up. And how he knew that was because of course, each morning Rennick would call trots over to HIS cabin just to ask if Trots could grab him some coffee from the cafeteria.
How odd..
As Trots thought about it more, the more he realised, Rennick hadn't talked to him much as of late.. I mean, of course they talked yesterday, they had a meeting together. But after that Trots hadn't heard much from the man. Trots thought about it as he began to walk to administration. He hated the walk there but he had to do it, or he'd get bits of his pay taken away.. Bummer..
Soon enough Trots was finally by the cabin. He knocked on the door once.. Then twice.. Nothing. Not even a peep from inside.. Strange, especially for Rennick. That man always made little noises, even if he didn't think much of it.
Trots finally decided to use his masterkey. He only used it in extreme cases, like when he needed to enter someone's cabin if they weren't answering him, or if they were extremely sick. Trots almost gagged by thinking about it. It had happened twice, almost right after each other. Ewan Muir had gotten really sick one night, drinking too much, a simple cold, some random stomach bug? Trots didn't know, but he remembered having to basically barge into Muir's and Innes' room after almost an hour of knocking and waiting just so he could replace their trashbag, which had been used as a makeshift barf bag by Muir, and to give Muir a bunch of medince. After a week or so, Muir was fine, but guess who wasn't? Innes. He had caught whatever Muir had. So Trots had to do that.. Twice.. And then he also had to replace Muir's and Innes' trashbag every day or so because it'd fill up with their barf.. YUCK! Enough of that, hopefully nothing like that had happened to Rennick. Trots couldn't take another barf incident!
But as Trots entered the room, what he saw was.. Confusing to him. There laid Rennick, sleeping peacefully in a fancy silk nightrobe?? And he was holding a small stuffed animal too? Ironic for the man. But Trots didnt speak as he entered the room. He went over and sat next to Rennick. Resting his hand on Rennick's back as the man slept. Trots smiled at the sight. The 'King of the Beria', sleeping peacefully in his bed with a stuffed animal. Trots let out a small chuckle and leaned close, kissing Rennick's forehead before standing up. He took a stickynote from his pocket, he had a whole stack there, and he took a pen on Rennick's desk and wrote a simple little note.
'Sleep well, Rennick, and i hope your wee plush does too
-Trots'
And with that, Trots put the pen down, left the sticky note before gently walking out of the room, he closed the door behind himself, gently locking it.. There wouldn't be any harm if he let Rennick sleep today.. Right? He could just say Rennick was sick for the day. Rennick did deserve to sleep for once.. Didn't he?
Then Trots left the area, going to the cafeteria, Roy was supposed to make pancakes today, thats what Trots heard at least.. And he wouldn't wanna miss it!
