Chapter Text
"Remember, you are Rhaenys of House Targaryen. You can change your name and become anyone you want, but remember: you are of House Targaryen. The egg I am giving you is a dragon egg. If you place this egg in the fire, a new dragon will be born, so remember this."
These words were spoken by her mother, Elia of House Martell, when she sent her five-year-old daughter on a ship at sea to ensure that she would not be reached. Her older brother, Aegon, had already been killed.
Rhaenys sailed for a long time: a girl who was torn from her chambers in the Red Castle.
She was able to sail to the free city of Braavos, where no one would think to look for her. She sold her magnificent dress and received the money.
At night, Targaryen cried: she knew that her family had been killed, and she was the only one left of the House Targaryen
As the years passed, she changed her name. She's not Rhaenys anymore, Alice. She is no different from the residents of the city of Braavos, although her hair is still white.
When the girl was thirteen, she was cornered by menacing thugs, intending to rape her. Despite the fact that she has not been a princess for a long time, do not forget that she is the daughter of the Targaryens!
Circumstances forced her to. The girl killed them before they could rip her skirt, but she was badly injured, and she might have a scar on her cheek.
She realized that she couldn't survive in this city without protection.
After walking a long distance away from the residential area, the girl lit a fire. She placed the blue dragon egg, which had been with her for over seven years, in the fire.
It was a beautiful sight as a truly amazing creature emerged from the flames. It was a small blue dragon. Based on the books in her father's library, Rhaenys realized that it was a female.
"Meraxes," Rhaenys called out to the dragon.
The creature responded. It jumped into the girl's arms and rubbed against the back of her hand.
Rhaenys smiled.
This is how her life with Meraxes began: she now lived on a hill, because people could not be shown the dragon, built a house of wood, every day stole meat.
The girl turned twenty-two and began to learn that people found burnt corpses. Rhaenys knew that dragons are not slaves and sent Meraxes to free swimming, hoping that the dragoness will remember the one who raised her.
With each passing year, the former princess became increasingly convinced that she had no need to return to Westeros, and that Braavos was a pleasant place to live.
A warm climate, relative freedom. Maybe in a couple of years she would sail to Old Valyria with Meraxes and the surrounding territories.
But everything changed a couple of days ago: Rhaenys noticed that someone had started following her. One of the Faceless Men. Everyone here knew that if they came for you, it meant you had to die.
But how could that be? She had been hiding so well, no one should have known that Rhaegar Targaryen's daughter was alive! In the Free Cities, a Valyrian appearance is no surprise.
The girl became more cautious.
Walking through the streets, she looked around to avoid running into the Faceless Men's reinforcements.
Sitting at a table in a bar, Targaryen ordered herself a meal and decided to think about her next move.
For some reason, the atmosphere here was very lively.
"Yes, a guy told me he was there!" A man was drinking ale and drooling over the girls.
"That white-haired whore brought three dragons with her, do you believe it?"
Rhaenys was intrigued. Someone with white hair, and three dragons? There had been many such rumors in Braavos lately.
"Hey, you," Targaryen called to the waitress. "What are those men talking about?"
"They're saying that Daenerys Targaryen, the queen, has arrived in Westeros." The girl was very intimidated and spoke with her head down.
Thanking the waitress, Rhaenys began to eat. Her father had told her that she had an uncle and an aunt, Viserys and Daenerys, but she had never met them. She didn't think her aunt would be alive with three dragons.
After a series of thoughts, the girl concluded that her aunt wanted to take back the Iron Throne.
But is it wise to return there? She has a tail. The Faceless Men could catch up with her in Westeros.
After thinking it over, the former princess realized that even if the assassins followed her, they wouldn't be able to reach her. She would be in the company of the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, who would undoubtedly be well-protected.
Dropping the coins on the table, Rhaenys left the bar, pulling her hood over her head.
She took a roundabout route to her home on the hill. Once inside, she quickly packed her belongings, checking the door every second.
Shouldering her bag, Targaryen stepped outside and suddenly looked into the distance. Deep down, the girl hoped that Meraxes would sense his rider's anxiety and return. But it didn't happen.
She looked up at the sky sadly and turned around. She still had to find a ship that would take her, without getting caught by the assassins.
Thoughts were not destined to come true: Targaryen heard a roar and quickly turned around.
Meraxes flew towards his rider. The girl could not hold back a happy smile.
The dragon landed next to Rhaenys. She raised her hand to stroke her almost child. As she touched the skin, she heard a rumble.
The white-haired girl had already flown on Meraxes and even built a saddle. With an uncharacteristic haste, the girl stood up and mounted the saddle.
-Soves.(Fly.) - ordered Targaryen Meraxes, who obeyed and took flight.
Again, Rhaenys felt that sense of freedom and anticipation in the air.
She turned back to the hill and noticed a man standing there, staring at the dragon's retreating figure in the sky.
It meant that they would have reached the girl regardless.
-Thank you, my dear. If it weren't for you, they would have killed me. - The girl stroked the scaly skin of her dragon.
It wasn't until Braavos disappeared into the clouds that Targaryen could breathe a sigh of relief.

"Your Grace, it would be reckless to fly to King's Landing now, just because of the fleet's failures." The dwarf was pacing around. All the necessary people were gathered in the council room: Missandei, Tyrion, and Varys.
Jon Snow was also present.
"I understand your concerns, but we need to show our strength, and I know that without your help." The white-haired woman almost stepped out onto the balcony, but she froze upon seeing the dragon.
The loyal advisors were also surprised. Daenerys ran out.
-Where is she running to? There's a dragon there. - The man of the North didn't understand the panic and stopped Tyrion for an explanation.
-Yes, there is a dragon, but Her Grace doesn't have a blue dragon. - Lannister frowned and ran after the queen.

"Meraxes, likirī."(Meraxes, calm down) - Rhaenys was approaching Dragonstone.
She thought that returning to her birthplace would be best for both her and the dragon. Then she would deal with the consequences.
As they flew straight, Meraxes suddenly changed course, and princess almost fell.
She looked up at the sky and saw another dragon. It was large and black.
Flying away from the sky, Targaryen landed on top of a hill that was higher than the castle.
She got down and let the dragon fly. The girl herself picked up her belongings and wanted to head towards the castle, but she froze in place.
Daenerys looked at the stranger and did not understand anything. She only knew that this girl had a dragon.
All the years of her life, Rhaenys was lonely, her family was exterminated, they were despised. But when she saw her aunt in person, she couldn't contain her emotions. To feel and see native blood after so many years is such a joy.
- Is it difficult to fly a dragon? The woman asked.
- It would be problematic without a saddle. Targaryen smiled awkwardly.
The white-haired queen came closer and held out her hand.
-Daenerys.
-Rhaenys, my father told me about you, aunt. - the girl winked and the woman laughed.
Finally, they embraced.
The former princess sobbed, but immediately fell silent, swallowing her tears.
"I thought you were killed with him." Daenerys's face showed similar emotions, and she wiped away tears from the corners of her eyes.
"My mother sent me on a boat to Braavos. Auntie, you have no idea how lonely I was. I thought I was the only Targaryen left." A sad smile appeared on the girl's face.
"Now you're home, Rhaenys. Come, you need to rest, and after that I will bring you up to speed."
The woman led the former princess to the castle, while dragons flew in the sky, shouting at each other and getting to know each other.
"Why did you return?" asked the King of the North, looking at Daenerys's advisors.
The Grey Worm remained silent, as did Missandei and Varys, but Tyrion decided to speak up.
"It seems they're having a family drama, and I don't want to interfere." The dwarf sat down on a chair.
At that moment, the Queen herself entered the room.
It had only been a few minutes, but the Queen had returned, and not alone.
"Meet Rhaenys." Daenerys pointed to the girl who had just entered.
Rhaenys looked around in surprise and caught the same looks from everyone.
"Oh, hi, I don't know you personally, but I'm Rhaenys Targaryen, and it's a pleasure to meet you!" She smiled warmly and began to walk around the room.
She shook hands with Jon and Ser Davos, Varys, Tyrion, and Missandei. The Grey Worm declined to be greeted.
"He's scowling, Auntie."
"The Grey Worm is always like that." The dark-haired girl spoke up. "He may seem intimidating at first, but don't be afraid."
Missandei didn't fully trust the stranger, but her queen didn't see any threat from Rhaenys.
"It's an amazing coincidence, isn't it?" - Varys approached the Targaryens. "I thought Ser Gregor Clegane had killed you and your family, but here you are in good health. Can you tell me why?"
The eunuch seemed surprised, not by the fact that Princess Rhaenys was alive, but by the fact that she was here. The Master of Whispers' hands clenched in anger.
"My mother sent me to Braavos by boat. There were people who tried to kill me, but they are now in their graves." Targaryen smiled sweetly.
After asking the queen's permission to collect the dragonstone, Jon left with Davos, and Daenerys began to brief her niece on the situation.
"Do you believe in the Night King?" - Rhaenys was very interested in everything, as she felt like she had missed out on her entire life.
"I don't think it's true. Although Jon Snow says otherwise."
After discussing some more matters, Daenerys decided to dismiss everyone.
"My queen, regarding the recent question..." - Tyrion still didn't give up.
" I've made it clear that we'll address this issue after the Iron Throne is taken, and you see almost the heir in front of you. We've discussed everything, so let me spend some time with my niece."
"Have you discussed the succession to the throne?" Rhaenys bounced her legs as she sat on the chair. The girl truly looked like a child in her aunt's eyes, even though she was only two years younger. "I can be the heir until you have children."
"I don't think I'll have children." The Queen lowered her head.
"There's still time! If you want more influence in Westeros, you should marry me off to someone. That's how you can gain support." Despite the harshness of the world, Targaryen found positivity.
"I can't do that, you're my only family, Rhaenys." Dany crouched in front of her niece.
"What if we both die, aunt? What if I'm killed or you are? We won't have any heirs. If there are no heirs, we need to produce them. Who has supported the House of Targaryen before?"
"Let's talk about it tomorrow, and I'll show you to your chambers."
On the way to Rhaenys room, her aunt told her about her life. How she became the Mother of Dragons, the Breaker of Chains.
The blonde was listening to her aunt enthusiastically and didn't want to leave.
"We can fly together tomorrow morning if you don't mind." Daenerys suggested, stopping at a massive door.
"Are you kidding? Of course I am! I haven't ridden Meraxes in ages, and I haven't seen your dragons!" The girl smiled again.
The aunt hugged her niece.
"Good night."
"Auntie."
"Hm?"
"I'm really happy. I can't believe it right now." The princess spoke softly into her aunt's hair, but the woman heard her.
"I'm happy too." Daenerys stroked her niece's cheek and smiled.
The family members said their goodbyes and went to bed.
