A Wicked AU!!

Chapter 1: Ding Dong

Chapter Text

"Good news! The Man, he's dead Come out, come out, he's gone Good news! he's dead The Man of the West is dead!"

Encanto celebrated together.

"The wickedest man there ever was The enemy of all of us here in Oz is dead."

Isabela held tightly to her five year old sister and Luisa held tightly to the eleven year old's shirt to make sure they didn't get sepatated.

"Good news! Good news! Look, it's Julieta! Let us be glad Let us be grateful Let us rejoicify that goodness could subdue!"

"Mama!" Mirabel giggled and tried to struggle against Isabela's hold.

"The wicked workings of you-know-who Isn't it nice to know That good will conquer evil? The truth we all believe'll by and by."

The celebration kept echoing around them.

"Outlive a lie For you and- No one mourns the wicked No one cries, "They won't return!" No one lays a lily on their grave."

"Remember Mama was friends with him. Be gentle." Isabela told her sisters.

"The good man scorns the wicked Through their lives, our children learn What we miss when we misbehave and goodness knows the wicked's lives are lonely Goodness knows the wicked die alone."

Mirabel took advantage of Isabela being shocked by a villager almost stepping on her skirt and wiggled away.

"It just shows when you're wicked, you're left only On your own Yes, goodness knows the wicked's lives are lonely."

Mama was sitting where her bubble had landed and Papa was holding tightly to her shoulder. Mama looked like she was trying not to cry.

"Goodness knows the wicked cry alone Nothing grows for the wicked, they reap only What they've sown That's a good question Are people born wicked? Or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?"

She ran to her Mama's side and Luisa and Isabela were on her heels.

"After all, the Wicked Man had a childhood he had a father who, by the way, had been appointed governor of Encanto."

Julieta was very lost in her thoughts. Almost she didn't realize that her daughters were here, trying to comfort her.

"And he had a mother, as so many do How I hate to go and leave you lonely."

She was remembering the story her mother had told her to try and explain why Bruno was the way he was.

"That's alright, it's only just one night But know that you're here in my heart while I'm out of your sight."

Mama had tried to cover the scandal that Bruno's life had been.

"And like every family, they had their secrets, Have another drink, my dark-eyed beauty I've got one more night left here in town So have another drink of green elixir And we'll have ourselves a little mixer."

Julieta never actually believed that they could blame Bruno for what his mother decided to do.

"Have another little swallow, little lady, and follow me down And one thing led to another, as it so often does (no!)"

But her mother seemed to think that his origins had something to do with the path his life took.

"But from the moment the man was born, he was, well, different It's coming Now? The baby's coming Oh, and how!"

circumstances aside, they let the boy be born. Mama used to wonder if it would have been kinder to not let him be born.

"I see a nose, oh such joy It's a healthy, perfect, lovely little- oh! (h, sweet Oz, oh)How can it be? (hat does it mean? it's uncanny it's obscene! Like a froggy, ferny cabbage The baby is unnaturally Green."

Julieta was glad that Bruno had existed though. Even though no one liked him even before he was known as the Wicked Man of the West.

"Take it away, take it away!"

"And so, it couldn't have been easy No one mourns the wicked Now at last, he's dead and gone."

Julieta was jolted out of her thoughts by the villagers getting louder.

"Now at last, there's joy throughout the land And goodness knows goodness knows We know what goodness is ah"

"Mama." Mirabel piped up, poking at her face. "Did you really know him?"

"Goodness knows the wicked die alone, he died alone, Woe to those, woe to those, Who spurn what goodnesses They are shown."

"Mirabel!" Isabela scolded. But Julieta nodded.

"No one mourns the wicked, good news! No one mourns the wicked, good news! No one mourns the wicked! Wicked! Wicked!"

"I'll tell you about him."
