Work Text:
Kremy tried hiding his surprise as he read through the script one more time, eyes lingering over the Ragnaross and Ragnarachel scene. He was going to kill that fucking goblin. Why the hell would he put a kiss scene in there? He gritted his teeth a little but sighed and went back to his preparation. He was sure he'd figure something out in time.
Gideon hadn't bothered proof reading. He would trust Gricko to not fuck this up for them considering how important this was for their little group and saving Morgo. Thats why when Kremy's scene as Ragnarachel came up he couldn't help but stare in surprise and shock. Kremy always looked so stunning when he dolled up like that, even if it was just ironic.
When Kremy started to sing Gideon felt his breath catch in his throat. He had such a nice voice, he almost didn't catch the other slipping up and calling the beginning of his own name. Unfortunately for the gatorfolk he did catch it and that got a different gear on the genasi rolling. Just why had he made that kind of slip up? He took a breath, listening to the rest of the song and waiting for his cue again.
Frost had been letting them know when to go on stage since this had been so rushed and put together last minute. He was the only one who bothered reading the script since he had such a huge roll in it. Gricko was certainly helping too. Cueing to Frosty to peer into his mind to find out who to summon to the stage.
While Gid had his second on screen time with Hootsie and Frost, Kremy worked on settling his nerves and figuring out his scene with Gideon. Luckily they didn't have a song together, but there was still a love confession and a damned kiss he didn't want to deal with. Maybe if they stage kissed it wouldn't be so bad.. Though he was kind of curious what it would be like.
It was too soon before he was called back onstage with Gideon. Nervous enough that he almost tripped over his own heels as he made his way out. The only thing he was happy about was the fact that he couldn't blush through his scales which made it easier to hide how flustered he truly was. The confession was beautiful too, Kremy almost felt like he could believe it before he was wrapped up in Gids arms.
The genasi knew he had one chance for this. One chance to get his confession in the air before he lost any excuse to get it out. Even if it was for a play and part of an act, Gideon loved the chance to actually act like he loved the alligator folk. Which he did, of course he did, but it was hard to read Kremy sometimes when he'd insist on the irony of their feelings and relationship. Especially their marriage. If anything his marriage to Kremy was everything to the genasi.
So when it came time to pour his heart out out to Kremy as RagnaRoss and RagnaRachel, he did as as Gideon to Kremy too. Pulling him closer passionately now and grinning as he felt those cook arms slip around his neck. As lips met snout and they actually kissed, Gideon felt a new fire light in him and he knew that this couldn't be the last time. He didn't care what he'd do it wouldn't be the last time.
Maybe that's why he let it linger longer than necessary, dropping the gator into a dip and sliding a hand along a thigh that curled over his hip as he did. Letting it linger just a moment before he pulled away and righted Kremy. They went off stage a bit later after that, letting Gricko have his number and ignoring the cheers that followed them.
Gideon took a second to wipe the lipstick off his face. Turning to look at Kremy with a slight chuckle. "You're a damn good actor y'know that Krem?" He asked with a grin. Watching the gators reaction more carefully than he might've otherwise.
Kremy had immediately distracted himself with his makeup, taking a moment to try and fix his lipstick and try to forget the hot feeling of being in Gideons arms and feeling his passion. Feeling that damned kiss. Everything was so good between them and Kremy wouldn't let that be ruined by some stage kiss.
So when the genasi spoke up and caught his attention he turned to look at him. Smiling slightly with a nod and slipping back into charming gator easily. "Well thank ya Gid. You were pretty convincing yourself. The crowd ate up that kiss, good work."
"Well thank ya Krem, but you did damn good too. They seemed to really like the chemistry." He grinned. About to speak up more when he heard Frost speaking in his head. It was time for final call and bows and Gideon sighed softly. That was fine. He wanted to have this talk more privately later.
Unfortunately later turned into hours. Between turning into a new man for Electrum Chef and all the chaos of that and the aftermath of their day, Gid wouldn't find his chance to talk to Kremy till late that night. When everyone was asleep, Hootsie, Gricko and Frost curled up in their half of the bed.
Gideon woke up to his and Kremys side empty. Looking around before noticing the window to their balcony open. He could see his best friends silhouette from the moonlight and got up to join him. Gently shutting the door behind him. Kremy didnt even flinch from where he was leaning on the railing and watching the stars.
"Hey Gid.." He mumbled finally, taking a slow drag of his cigarette and blowing it out carefully. Watching the smoke swirl as the genasi joined him at the railing and settled close to him. Letting his body hest warm the lizardfolk up easily now.
"Hey Kremy. Cant sleep?" He asked back, looking over at him curiously now. He wondered if it was for a similar reason he couldn't sleep and he chose to take a small risk. "I know I can't. Keep thinking of today." He mumbled.
Kremy nodded slowly. Tapping his cig to get rid of the ash building up there before he looked back at Gid. Slowly pressing into the mans arm and enjoying the heat there. He enjoyed their more docile nights. It reminded him of the beginnings of their adventures together. Kremy feeding him and keeping him around and in exchange Gid letting the other share a bedroll with him on colder nights to keep the reptile warm. They never spoke of those nights, but they both thought of them fondly.
Gid took another risk. Shifting to wrap an arm around Kremy's shoulder and pull him closer into a broad, strong chest. One Kremy worked hard to keep fed and large. He didnt want to count Gids ribs anymore, he decided that a long long time ago. He looked up at the genasi as he leaned into him.
"Everythin' alright Gid?" He asked quietly. Causing the genasi to look down at him. His lip was caught between his teeth where he was worrying at it and he nodded slowly. "Yeah I'm fine.. Just.. Thinkin is all."
Kremy nodded slowly and looked back at him easily. The moon reflecting in those gorgeous silver eyes of his now. "Thinking about.. what?" He asked. Not wanting to ask if he was as caught over the kiss as Kremy was.
Gideon stared back at him. Debating just how much he wanted to tempt. Did he really want to risk everything, lose everything for a *chance* with Kremy? He took a breath and looked away. "Did you almost say my name on stage?"
Kremy felt himself tense immediately. He thought he covered that fairly well. He looked away from Gideon as he tried to think up some excuse to wiggle his way out of this. "That was just a slip of the tongue Gid. A little irony for the crowd." He insisted with a dismissive wave of his hand.
That hurt a little, hearing that it was supposed to be irony. It also made no sense because the crowd didn't know them personally like that. So he took another step forward and Kremy looked up at him almost in surprise now as the genasi stared down at him.
"Its nothin ironic, and they wouldn't get it unless they knew us outside the play. Even then we have those goofy fuckin' names. You've been weird since that stupid satyr married us. What's goin' on Krem?" He asked carefully. Eyes searching the gators face like there'd be some secret to uncover there.
That broke something in Kremy and he looked away sadly. Surely Gid wouldn't hate him right? Wouldn't leave him just because of some stupid crush he could be over with some time? But it wasn't just some stupid crush was it? It was so much more, so much deeper than just a crush. He'd loved Gid for years now and it was killing him to be married for him and not actually have him as a husband.
Sad silver eyes looked up to meet deep black ones now and he sighed quietly. "This whole marriage thing.. Its just ironic right Gid? Just some funny joke because of the fae magics?"
Gideon looked confused now. Trying to wrap his head around what could possibly be happening or what his friend was saying. Then it clicked. This was Kremy's way of trying to gauge his feelings. He'd seen it a few times. Danced this dance with him before.
So he gently tugged him closer. Staring down and meeting those wide eyes easily now as he pressed a kiss to the top of his maw. A bold step, even for the genasi. "It doesn' havta be ironic, Krem."
"But- I'm not your type.." Kremy mumbled shocked. Still trying to figure out what was going on. Gideon smiled a bit, knowing he'd have to work to convince Kremy he was worthy of love. Of Gideons love.
"I know I'm a real ladies man.. But this is somethin different, Krem. Somethin' real. I care about you man. I.. I love you." He finally said. Refusing to look at the lizardfolk as he confessed it until he felt those scaled hands grabbing onto his suspenders for dear life.
That was when his attention finally turned to him again as lips met his. Gideon didn't have to think twice about the kiss, pulling the gatorfolk in closer still and kissing him back. Heating up several noticeable degrees as the other melted against him.
When they pulled back they were both breathless. Staring back at each other in awe for a moment before they went at each other again. More passion and hands as they finally gave in to feelings they'd been fighting for years on their own. Kissing deeply under the moonlight, touching over scales and clothes and grabbing where they could.
The next time they pulled away they were truly panting. Smiling satisfied as they finally let each other go and made their way inside together.
If they were cuddled into each other the next morning when Frost woke up, he wouldn't say anything about it. Twig was surprisingly quiet about what she'd heard or seen while up all night too. And if they'd seem a little closer over the next few days, well that wasn't the business of anyone else but them.
