Outtake: Ordinary

Summary:

We delve into Charlie's side of things.

Notes:

Hey!
This is the first of the outtakes, focussing more on Charlie's side of things.
This might have taken place at any stage during Nick's proposals, but in my mind it takes place after the lemur one.
Some of the outtakes come in drabble form, others don't. This is a triple drabble.
The idea for this comes from one of the comments dusty left, pointing out that Charlie might wait for something more "ordinary".

If you are new here you might want to check out the prequel I Love You first to fully understand what is happening here.

Thank you all so much for reading and leaving comments. I have to admit they left me a bit speechless sometimes, so I might not have gotten around to answering them yet.

I hope you continue to enjoy this series, it meant and means a lot to me.

Work Text:

They were having dinner at home. Nick had made his famous coq au vin. It was a bit fancy for a simple Friday evening dinner, but Charlie didn’t complain. He loved it. They were eating in companionable silence. It was absolutely ordinary and perfect.

Until it wasn’t.

Before Charlie knew what was happening, Nick had got up and knelt in front of him, taking his hand.

“Charlie,” he began with tears in his eyes. “You are the love of my life. You are kind, and loving, and gorgeous. I am so happy we found each other. Every day I get to spend with you is the best day of my life. I thank my guardian angel and Mr. Lange for bringing us together in form on that day that would change my life forever.” They were both chuckling softly amidst their tears. Then Nick presented a little, velvety black box to Charlie. When he opened it there was a simple red gold band in it with inlaid small sparkling stones. “Will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?”

Charlie actually had to bite his tongue in order to not say yes on the spot and put this gorgeous, dorky, ridiculously sappy man out of his misery.

The time couldn’t come soon enough!

He blinked away his tears and put a hand lovingly on Nick’s cheek. Then he was in his arms, sobbing and laughing freely. “Of course I’ll marry you, you dork!” he exclaimed, snuggling into Nick’s arm, holding him with all that he was. Then, regaining some of his composure, he sat back down on his chair and smirked at Nick. “But not just yet.”

“You. Are. Evil.” Nick groaned, his eyes sparkling with laughter. “I love you more than anything. But you are definitely evil.”
