Chapter Text
Eijiro thought he had felt his heart beat before, thought he knew how it was to have a crush and be “in love” with a boy. He came into UA with that in mind, moving on from the heartbreak that was a failed middle school crush. Trying to move on from the fear that he’d never be who he wanted to be.
He sat down at his desk at UA with a smile, hoping to hide who he was. Who he still is. Thinking that maybe, with this new determination, he’d get to where he wanted to be. That he’d be up to par and maybe prove himself to everyone who thought he wasn’t worthy.
He could feel his feet rocking as he sat there, flexing his fingers into fists again and again.
Before he could even register it, his hands were met with the softness of bright, blonde hair.
“Ugh, dude. Aren’t the girls here all so cute?” Groaned the dude now resting his head on his hands.
“Um…?” He chuckled
“Oh, right. Yeah. Sorry. I’m Kaminari Denki.” Kaminari grinned, bending his head further back to look at him.
“Kirishima Eijiro.” He grinned right back.
“Nice to meet you, Kirishima!” Kaminari said this like he meant it, excitement in his voice. “So, girls. Why are they so cute? You think it’s like a distraction tactic to keep us focused or something? Like, have you seen that girl with purple hair? She frowned at me, and dude, I can already see us married with kids.”
Eijiro let out another laugh, feeling his nerves fade into the background as he smiled down at what he hoped was a new friend.
“I mean, I don’t know, haven’t really looked at the girls if I’m being honest.” He admitted, heart jumping.
“Well, the guys are pretty cute, too. I heard that Endeavor’s son was in our class. I mean, talk about hot, no pun intended.” Kaminari lifted his head off his hands and turned to face him fully, a kind look on his face.
Eijiro couldn’t help but beam, “Oh yeah, I think I’ve seen him on the news before. He’s pretty cute.”
“You’re pretty cute, too, Kirishima.” Kaminari tossed him an expression that he knew was meant to be flirtatious, and he felt himself blush.
“You’re not too bad yourself, Kaminari!” He grinned.
“Whoa! Cool teeth! What’s your quirk, man?”
His smile faltered just a little. Well, here goes his new friendship.
“Hardening.” He said, making a small show of it by flexing his now hardened fingers.
“Dude! That’s so cool! We should train together! I wonder if my electricity would even affect your skin at all!”
Eijiro was taken aback by his enthusiasm, by the way Kaminari was smiling with wonder in his eyes.
“Ah, yeah! Sure thing, man.” He said.
“Cool! Hey, lend me your hands again? I’m tired.”
“You got it, man.” He chuckled, smiling down at Kaminari, who was closing his eyes and settling on his offered hands.
They stayed like that for a bit, Kaminari chatting him up and asking him things about himself, until they were both startled by the door slamming open.
“Stupid fucking heavy ass door.”
His head turned to the door like there was a magnet tied to it, and he felt the world slow just a little.
He knew his cheeks were practically on fire as he glanced at the figure elbowing his way through the door, a tuft of wild blonde hair peeking up at him.
His head snapped up, and like he could feel his gaze, his eyes bore into his.
Wow. Talk about cute guys.
“Huh!” Kaminari let out, “So you like the grumpy-looking guys?”
Eijiro blushed bright red, “Ah, I just think he’s—“
“He is really cute!” Kaminari said loud enough for the guy to hear.
His gaze automatically snapped to Kaminari, the hint of a blush on his face, before his expression brightened with rage.
“What the fuck are you looking at?”
“You! You’re kinda cute!” Kaminari said without fear.
“Kaminari, dude. I don’t think—“He whispered, thinking that this guy was definitely not in the mood to be flirted with.
“Fucking fuck off! What the hell!”
“Hey, sorry, man.” He tried his best to toss the guy a smile. “Kaminari?”
“Sorry, dude, I’m not trying to be mean or something. I just think you’re cute! Sorry if you’re not chill with me flirting with you. Can’t really turn it off sometimes.” Kaminari is now the one blushing, looking apologetic.
The guy rolls his eyes, his mood slowly calming, “Whatever, just fuck off.”
“I’m Kirishima by the way!” He beamed, giving him a small wave, his heart now beating out of his chest as the dude looked straight at him.
The blush was back again, and his face looked so pretty that he was convinced he had never seen anything cuter.
“Bakugo.” The guy scoffed, stomping to his assigned seat.
“I’m Kaminari!” Kaminari said with a smile.
Bakugo turned to them to give them a hint of a smile before hiding it by giving Kaminari the middle finger.
“Whoa. Think I pissed him off.”
“Hey, you apologized. Don’t worry about it. Maybe he just doesn’t like being flirted with first thing in the morning.” He shrugged.
“Yeah.”
Kaminari shrugged, resting his head back on his hands.
He turned to look at Bakugo again and found he was already looking in their direction with a crease in his brow.
He waved just a little, and Bakugo just glared back, turning away after a long second.

“Hey. Kirishima, right?”
Eijiro smiled, “What, no dumb hair?”
“Your hair is fucking dumb.”
“Oh, whatever, Blasty Boy.” He smirked.
Bakugo turned away from him, avoiding his gaze until the space between them grew smaller.
“Whatever. Your quirk is hardening and shit, right? Wanna team up for this bullshit?”
They were currently in class, doing a day-long training. Aizawa instructed them to team up in groups of 2 to 4.
“Yeah! Sure, man!” He smiled, raising his arm to give him a light punch on his shoulder.
He genuinely loved teaming up with Bakugo lately, at the USJ, the sports fest. Though this was the first time Bakugo had actually initiated the teaming up himself.
He couldn’t help but wonder, though, “But why me, man? Wouldn’t you—“
“Your quirk works with mine. We can get a lot of shit done and—tell anyone this shit…” Bakugo sighed, “You had me on my fucking toes. You almost beat me.”
Eijiro can't stop the smile that spreads on his face, his lips shaking with the want to kiss his cheek, his forehead. Maybe even his nose?
“Fuck. Stop looking at me like that, you moron.”
“Like what?”
“With that stupid smile!”
Eijiro smiled even bigger, and he knew he had to look kind of goofy.
He hardened himself in time with the explosion to his face, laughing as Bakugo shouted.
“Come on, you dumbass.”
Eijiro looked around as they went to the middle of the battlefield, noticing almost everyone was in groups.
Everyone except for Kaminari that was. He was looking around the battlefield for a group to join. Eijiro was about to shout for him to join them, but he was beaten to the punch.
“Hey! Sparky! Get over here before I change my damn mind.” Bakugo shouted.
Kaminari grinned, relief blooming on his face. He ran to them quickly, Bakugo watching him curiously.
“Hey, Kirishima?” Bakugo whispered. Well, tried to. He had a pretty loud voice.
“Yeah, man?”
“First day of class, did I hurt Sparky’s feelings or some shit?”
“Ah, not really? I don't think so!”
Bakugo clicked his teeth, “Whatever. And you guys are…friends and shit, right?”
“Yeah! He's one of my best friends!”
“That's stupid. You've only known each other for five fucking seconds.” Bakugo scoffed.
Eijiro laughed, “If I didn't know any better, man, I'd think you're jealous!” He teased.
Bakugo's eyes widened, his cheeks blooming with a hint of color.
“Hey, guys! So, what's the plan?” Kaminari said as he got closer.
“Don't fucking lose,” Bakugo said, walking ahead of them, gesturing for them to follow.
