‘Almost’ is the saddest word.
I ‘almost’ had a date to the dance
I ‘almost’ got a license
I ‘almost’ moved out
I ‘almost’ graduated from college
I ‘almost’ got published
I ‘almost’ got into sports
Then I think of the other side of the coin.
I ‘almost’ drowned, but was saved
I ‘almost’ was homeless, but was taken in
I was ‘almost’ illiterate, but succeeded
I am ‘almost’ pathless, but am finding my way
I was ‘almost’ defenseless, but learned to be tough
Essentially, for every missed chance, there’s a missed tragedy.
