Chapter Text
A glimpse of light, just a glimpse before everything is dark.
"Honey! Come quick, there's a child here!" A voice calls out, quiet and distant. Waking up feels weird, seeing two blurry faces.
"Oh, thank the stars... She's awake..." A hand strokes my face and I feel tears form in my eyes. "Oh! Right she must be hungry, go fetch a bottle, right away." One of the people leave and the next thing I know I'm being cradled in someone's arms, crying.
Years go by in what feels like a matter of seconds. These two people, whom I now know as my parents, being there with me every step of the way.
"Mother, where did I come from..?" The lady stares at me, "You were a gift from the stars, Rirren, okay?" She smiles gently and I nod, not exactly satisfied with that response.
I go outside to my father, that seems to be where he always is nowadays, "Father, where did I come from?" I stare up at him, "Well, we found you outside our steps one night... We never had a child of our own before you, you are a gift. And a truly special one at that, even with all your tantrums," His response being only a little more in depth than my mother's.
"Okay..." I look down and he pats my head before shooing me off to go play with the neighborhood kids. I would, but last time...
"Look at her, what an idiot!" A kid says distantly, other kids whispering along. "What a weirdo," "I heard she was abandoned," "I heard she was raised by wolves," "I heard she's actually a demon, that's why her hair is red." Tears well in my eyes and the tips of my hair turn blue.
So instead, I sit at the town square and pick at the grass in front of me...
