Work Text:
Go Yeongeun hesitated, gathering her courage before turning the key to unlock the door. “Um, pardon the intrusion.”
An immediate yell of protest could be heard by Baek Saheon, who had jumped from the kitchen out of her view “What— what the hell are you doing here?!” he yelled to the stack of boxes that Yeongeun had in her arms. So he was home after all… when she had knocked on the door earlier he hadn’t answered and she had to go to the building manager to get a spare key…
“The higher-ups told me to come here… because D-squad is incapacitated, and they knew I was close to Soleum-ssi.” To Yeongeun, the atmosphere of the room turned grave, she was still in denial of the death of an employee she hoped considered her a friend. She certainly did.
Of course, she knew that Baek Saheon never really liked Kim Soleum anyways, so he had probably celebrated to himself.
“... Whatever. Do your business and leave quickly.” He starts to leave to his room, turning away from her before glaring back. “And don’t get close to my side of the dorm.” He threatened.
“I wouldn’t want to go there anyway… bastard” Yeongeun grumbled. She had whispered that last part.
“Did you say something?”
“Huh?” Yeongeun feigned innocence, voice suddenly becoming higher-pitched.
“Tch.”
Employee Roe Deer… no, Kim Soleum’s room was barren. There’s a few sets of casual clothes in the closet, and some loungewear, but nothing else. When she peeked at the bathroom to see if there was anything, she saw that it held the same emptiness.
Perhaps she should have expected this, seeing how as a rookie he was so close to a wish potion already. There must be something that her friend had wanted so badly that he single-mindedly chased after it with no regard for his wellbeing. Living with the bare-bone necessities wasn’t comfortable at all, Yeongeun felt that she knew this more than many others.
Well, she came here with a job to do. It felt heartless to pack away the traces of Kim Soleum, but there were barely any traces in the first place, at least it made it easier on her heart. She folded the blankets and sheets into a nice and tidy pile before putting the clothes on top.
She didn’t need to bring so many boxes… everything had fit into just one.
Still, she looked around the room to check if there was anything she had missed. To be safe, she checked under the mattress to see if something possibly fell. If Kim Soleum wasn’t always carrying that pink plushie around with him, it’d probably have fallen down here, but the plushie had disappeared with him.
Next, she pulled out the bedside table.
Sitting neatly in the center of it, slightly tilted to the left, was a leather diary. Yeongeun hesitated for a moment, wondering if it was something private. She didn’t want to intrude as much as she already had.
However, curiosity got the best of her, and she slowly opened it.

“...!”
She jumped back, dropping the journal on the floor.
...She supposed it was nicer to think that Kim Soleum had heeded the advice and disappeared, rather than... well...
Suddenly, from the kitchen, she thought she could hear the clanging of pots...
Go Yeongeun picked up the book carefully, an idea forming in her mind.
Thankfully, Baek Saheon seemed to be in his bathroom when she snuck into his room. She placed the item on her bed, leaving it open on the pages she saw.
One last prank, for old time's sake.
She made sure to leave immediately afterward.
As she waited for the elevator, she heard a distant scream. She smiled.
