Chapter Text
Travis shot up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily as he processed what just happened. He was in an occult-looking room with high ceilings and low light; there was a circle on the floor with an odd-looking sigil in the center drawn in chalk with candles lit around it. He woke up just as this weird shadowy figure was forming.
Travis decided to ignore it for now, choosing to get up and go make some breakfast for himself and his little sister, Mary. On his way down the stairs, he heard his sister and father speaking.
“I’ll be going on a work trip. A ministry starting up in Oregon needs some help getting things up and running. I'll be back in a week's time. I'll be giving you and your brother money for food; don't do anything you wouldn't want the lord to see," Kenneth said, picking up his briefcase and walking out the door.
Mary looks at Travis, then the door, then her brother again before booking it to her bedroom to blast her music and dance around her room. It was the weekend, so Travis didn't mind. He sighed and went to go make some breakfast.

It had been about 3 hours; Travis had just got back from buying groceries with the money Kenneth left for them. Once it was all put away, Travis realized how bored he was. His mind started to wonder about his dream from earlier. He wanted answers. What was that sigil? Where was that weird place? What was that shadowy thing?
Travis found himself wandering up to Kenneth's bedroom door. He looked around as if his father would jump out at any moment. Slowly he reached for the handle and opened the door, closing it behind him. He felt like his pulse was going a million miles an hour as he walked over to the bookcase looking at all the books. His eyes fell to a book bound in red leather that caught his eye.
Travis grabbed the book and looked at the cover. “The Ars Goetia” was written on the front in a Gothic font. Travis opened the book and started skimming a few chapters about demons and different sigils before his eyes landed on one. It was the one he saw in his dream! It was labeled, saying it was the sigil of Beleth, daemon of love. How could a demon be associated with love?
Travis chose to take the book, wanting to read more about it at a later date.
