Work Text:
They’re an hour into a generic action film. Go Yeongeun stifles a yawn against her fist and tries not to drift off, just as an explosion lights up the movie screen; the speakers blow out from the volume, startling her harshly enough that she slams into the back of her chair.
‘Arrgh…’ She tips her head back with a sigh. ‘This damn cinema…’
Kang Yihak wanted to watch a movie… supposedly. She met Yeongeun in the lobby of their local shitty cinema with a heavy-looking duffle bag. They’d shuffled past the ticket counter, weathering wary looks from the employees stationed there, but they’d somehow managed to make it to their theatre without being stopped.
However, as soon as they’d settled down, Kang Yihak had disappeared momentarily. She’d returned, her bag looked about half the size it previously was. Yeongeun pretended not to see the dollar bills she tucked into the front pocket of her jeans before settling down in her seat.
Now that Yeongheun has shifted closer to Kang Yihak, a fruity smell begins to waft over to her.
She finds the source instantly when something cold is pressed against her lips.
“Open up,” Kang Yihak whispers.
Yeongeun doesn’t get a chance to. The something is shoved into her mouth, against her teeth, until she accepts her fate and lets it in properly.
“Mmf?!”
Tangy juice fills her mouth—citrussy, tart… Not quite an orange.
‘It’s sweet!’
“Mmmmandarin?” Her holds a hand to her mouth to keep herself from spraying bits of fruit at Kang Yihak.
“Yuuup.”
Another slice finds its way to her. She rolls her eyes and accepts it, catching Kang Yihak’s fingers with her teeth.
“Yeowch!” she hisses. She still gives Yeongeun another slice once she’s finished swallowing.
‘...She’s acting weirdly generous today?’
Yeongeun takes this one with her hand, holding it carefully as she asks, “How much did you sell these for?”
Kang Yihak smiles, tilting her head.
“Hm? I don’t know what you’re talking about~”
“...Of course you don’t,” Yeongeun says drily, popping the slice into her mouth. This one is pleasantly sweet too—her delight must be obvious, because Kang Yihak moves her head closer.
“It’s good, right?” Her smile grows. “As payment, I accept PayPal, Venmo, Ko-Fi, cash—”
Yeongeun stops chewing for a second and mumbles, “A kiss?”
“... I guess a kiss could work.” Kang Yihak agrees, puckering her lips like a particularly unflattering fish.
Rolling her eyes once more, Yeongeun finishes her mouthful and gives Kang Yihak a quick peck. And then another, and another, and… a few more.
As soon as she’s kissed Kang Yihak into a daze, Yeongeun reaches over to pull a mandarin out of her girlfriend’s bag.
“These are nice. Don’t sell them all.” She peels it, splits it, then sets half down in Kang Yihak’s lap. “Eat a few of them now.”
Kang Yihak sighs, but complies, mechanically stuffing her face. Even in the darkness, Yeongeun can see her face light up. She snorts, turning back to the screen and eating her own fruit.
