Work Text:
Christmas Day. Bells rang through the corridors and boys stormed through.
All hell ran loose when they ran outside, greeting their parents. Their parents welcomed them with warming smiles , each taking them to their cars. One by one , all of Jack’s classmates were gone.
All but one.
Simon.
Simon and Jack were just known as classmates. But when everyone was gone, they were the bestest of friends. Even Jack knew that he enjoyed Simon’s company, just didn’t want to show it.
The afternoon quickly arrived, supper time was starting. Jack walked into the dining hall, his footsteps echoing on his way. He grabbed a hot plate of soup, making his way to where his bestest friend was sitting.
“Simon.”
He looked up. His eyes shined off of Jacks , his curly head swooping to the side as he slightly smiled.
“Jack , It’s been too long.”
Jack smiled softly , slamming his plate of food and sitting down. His mouth moved alot as Simon’s eyes drifted away.
Jack noticed that Simon wasn’t focusing on his story about how his father did blah blah blah. he clapped his hands against his face. Simon stared at him,
“Did you really mean it?”
“Mean what?”
“That my eyes are beady-eyed”
He gestured to his eyes, using his fingers to pull them around and mess about.
“Yes. But they are pretty.”
“Pretty huh? You weren’t saying that when Maurice and Roger were laughing at me and calling me names.”
Jack glanced to the side , his gaze overtly avoiding Simon’s. He gulped and started to mess with his hair as he grabbed his spoon and shoved soup into his mouth.
“It doesn’t matter. Why should it?”
“Simon. I didn’t mean it.”
“I know. Your just… different around them”
“I act the same to everyone. Bug.”
“You know what? I’m sick and tired of you treating me like I.. Like im just a puppet. To you. You toss me aside when all of them come back and then when they leave you come running back. I know what you are. You’re just a coward and I’m sorry that you can’t admit that to anyone. You even called me mother one time and I comforted you. Your just a horrible person.
Jack laughed but his eyes said something different.
“Your just batty.”
Simon stared at him. His eyes turned away , his heartbeat beating faster. His eye twitched as he pushed everything off the table.
Jack got up quickly.
“You are so weird you know that? You’re a loser. This is why nobody likes you. This is why you get bullied. You really are batty.”
Simon grabbed the fork off the floor , jumping on the table and pounced on Jack. Screams echoed through the dining hall as they scuffled, one of them struggling to grab the fork after the other steals it. The combat scene quickly erupts into more chaos as the fork jumps up and falls further away from the fight. Jack quickly turns Simon over , pinning him against to the ground. He reached to grab the fork but Simon pushed him but it was no use. He grabbed the fork, scratching it against Simon’s neck.
“You don’t fight me. Your skinny. Put more meat onto those bones.”
Simon spat onto his face. He acted without thinking. His first rebellious reaction.
Jack screamed in disbelief and grabbed Simon and dropped him again to the floor , leaning against his face. Simon stared into his eyes.
“Do it.”
“I would do it. It’s just.. it’s not sharp enough.”
“You’re scared. You’re a coward.”
The words echoed in Jack’s mind. How could this pathetic bug-eyed fool know how he is? His heart pounced , his breathing fastened.
Simon looked at his eyes intently and then slowly lowered his gaze , showing his defeat. Jack smirked. Smirked. Before he or Simon could know it , Simon plunged into a kiss. Planting a small peck against Jack’s. Jack pulled away, staring at Simon in disbelief but also starstruck.
Jack knew it wasn’t right. At least that’s what everybody said. But it felt right. It felt right to do this. It felt like he was kissing a girl. - It doesn’t matter right? - He thought to himself. But he knew deep down, that this thing Simon and him just did isn’t the correct way. It’s not right. It’s disgusting.
Jack pulled himself up , dropping the fork and running back to their dormitory’s. Simon lowered his gaze.
