Summary
Stebbins’ eyes eventually released him, and Harkness stuttered for breath he hadn't realized he was missing. Harkness dipped back into the car quickly, balancing on one of his knees to gather Curley’s snacks. A mantra of weird, weird, this place is so fucking weird, repeated incessantly in his head. For once he couldn't wait to be back on the road, far away from creepy old gas stations that don’t work and strange, handsome men that make his stomach churn weirdly.
“Here.” He all but shoved the food into Stebbins’ arms and dived into the driver’s seat. He spared one final look up at him. “Thanks again, Stebbins.”
Stebbins stared at him blankly for a moment before nodding. He had shifted all the food into one arm and was fiddling with something in his pocket.
“See ya around Harkness."
When driving to Maine for a freelance gig, Harkness gets caught in a web of horror and mystery. It's very possible he is going to die in this small town being run by a mismatched group of volatile men, but at least it will make for an interesting story.
His mom did always say his writing would get him into trouble one day.

It didn’t occur to anyone that any relative of Barkovitch’s would be in Florida, states away from their campus.
