Hello, this is pomato anon here! Since a lot of normal citizens don't know anything about hunters (due to hunters being a relatively new (?) thing, and therefore not learning it in school beforehand), and I'm a hunter myself, I made this post on the forum to share all the terms & basics you need to know before diving deeper into the Hunter forum and getting confused ^-^

Hunters are basically humans with cheats in real life. They have this thing called a "system window" and it basically looks like a game menu. It displays all the skills a hunter has, and the skill sets depends on the type of hunter and the level of the hunter.

Oh, and also things called HP, Mana, ATK, DEF, and INT, along with a status window that tells us whether were sick/poisoned or not. (Really helpful because we get to skip the doctor's check-up appointment LOL)

ESTABLISHED RANKS

✦ S-rank : Highest possible rank, very rare. Insane skill set, high stats, etc. You get the gist.

✦ A-rank : Rare, but not as rare. Really good skills, decent stats, etc.

✦ B-rank : Uncommon. A lot of hunters that work are B rank, though. Decent skills, okay stats.

✦ C-rank : Common. Okay skills, meh stats.

✦ D-rank : Really, really common. Decently stronger than the average citizen, but that's it.

✦ F-rank : Barely any different from a citizen… Just a tiny bit more enhanced.

HUNTER TYPE (ELEMENTAL)

✦ Physical : Enchaced strength.

✦ Fire : Fire abilities, explosives, etc.

✦ Ice : Ice abilities, snow, etc.

✦ Water : Water abilities, rain, etc.

✦ Wind : Wind abilities, hurricanes, etc.

✦ Light : Light abilities, healing, buffs, etc.

✦ Darkness : Darkness abilities, shadows, etc.

✦ Poison : Poison abilities, debuffs, buffs, etc.

HUNTER TYPE (COMBAT/POSITION IN BATTLE/PARTY)

✦ DMG Dealer : The attacker of the group. (++ATK/Mana, +Intellegence)

✦ Support : The backer/support for the whole party. (++ATK/Mana/INT/DEF/HP)

✦ Healer : The healer. (++Mana, +HP)

✦ Tank : The sheild. (++DEF/Mana, +HP)

To become a hunter, you have to "awaken" first. There's no set way to awaken, you just do. A lot of people awaken in a sense of crisis, though. to recieve your rank, you can just go ahead and check your system window, it says right there. But nobody else can see your system window, so to actually file it in your official government documents, you have to go to a Hunter's Association Center. There's one in every area nowadays, so don't worry. You'll get tested usng a crystal ball.

Guilds are basically job offices for hunters. Most hunters join a guild after being recognized as aq hunter by the government, as the pay is decent enough. We get assigned roles and jobs in guilds, some being sent to a gate, and some just stay in the guild for admin work/weaponary.

Popular guilds as of now are Asphodel, Special Threat Management (STM), and SDW. If you want to find more about it in the forum, just search up the names in the search bar.

Gates and rifts are similar, it's just the size and the danger levels that are different. They're both basically huge fields that contain monsters and such. Rifts andf Gates usually appear everywhere/anywhee in the form of a portal of some sort. To clear a rift/gate, you have to beat the monsters inside, and kill the master of the rift/gate. (Basically like a final boss fight)

Gates are relatively dangerous, but still survivable depending on the rank of the gate. Rifts are completely off limits to hunters B-rank and below, with the exception of a few very professional hunters of the B-rank. Gates are much, much smaller and more lively/earth-like compared to rifts.

In the forums, users usually talk about hunters in codenames/shorter version of the names because of laziness and to avoid government officials finding citizens and other hunters talking sh*t about certain hunters. Here's the list :
