    “Are you seriously gonna pretend last night didn’t happen?” Aiden scowls and the conversation grinds to a halt. The beach feels smaller, as if they’re the only two people on the island and everything else has died off.

    “I just wanted to give you some space.” Sam says after a moment. He shifts in place, and while Aiden is looking away, he feels as Sam sits down heavily beside him. Their knees touch, and although it’s just a knee and he’s wearing jeans, a little spark goes through Aiden’s body. He shivers, a thrill going through him that he hadn’t felt in weeks.
