Chapter Text
Chapter One
Brooke loved every season. Fall reminded her of coziness and emotions, Winter gave her peace and Spring reminded her of beauty. But Summer gave her reason to live. Brooke had never exactly been the type to be called “basic”, but during the summer she was just like any teenage girl; she wore the skimpiest bikinis her father would let her wear, invited her friends over for weeklong sleepovers and loved the beach more than any person in America.
On the day her local high school let out for the summer, she didn’t hesitate to knock on her best friend's door since childhood at three PM sharp.
“Maya!” Brooke rapped on the oak door. “I was thinking-”
Vshoom. Click. Maya’s car door opened and she stepped out irritated. “Girl! School literally just let out.”
“Yeah, but usually you come home at 3?” Brooke defended.
Maya walked slowly, a smile spreading across her face, shrugged. “It’s fine, I saw Liam real quick to give him his phone cause he left it at my house last night and ended up being a bit later. Anyhow, what were you here for?”
Brooke smiled and opened Maya’s door. The interior of her parents' home was elaborate with authentic Persian rugs, expensive wines and a plush sofa decorating the room. Her parents- Parisa and Chrisopher- were both decorators. Parisa was middle eastern, her features showing strongly in Maya.
Maya was beautiful. She was half Persian with short dark hair and tan skin. Her eyes were hazel like her dads framed by dark lashes, not to mention her height. She was 5’11 at 17 and people all her life had prompted her to get on a sports team, but Maya wasn’t the sporty type. Although she was good at everything, she had a certain affliction with reading and writing, as well as styling clothes which every person who had ever laid eyes on her could clearly tell.
Brooke on the other hand was never adorned in anything other than a bikini or faded blue jean shorts. Her hair was dirty blonde- as in clearly blonde but her roots were slowly getting darker from age. Her eyes were hazel with gold and green flecks beautifully reflecting her tan skin from spending every day out in the sun.
Brooke and Maya were a pair matched in heaven.
Platonically of course.
